ok so i had a c-section last time and it was awful dh went white as a sheet because he saw what they did to me to get my ds out ..so like a dummy I went to your tube and now im scared to death the women on there were regular sized women too not fat like me :( im really afraid so afraid im literally sick to my stomach.... I so want a regular birth I had 2 normal births the dr said i was a good canidate for vbac but now he is saying its that it isnt a good idea because of the small hospital in our town and lack of anestiologists i asked my specialist to do it but he said he has a policy once a c- section always a c-section im freaking out im really scared....not to mention i had a really hard time last time and set up infection and took forever to heal :(

Had her baby 3 wks ago and since then has had terrible discharge from her incision spot. They opened her up again yesterday and put in a drain (I think its called) and she has to go in daily for them to clean it out.

Hopefully this time will be much different than your last. For my friend, she had 3 others just fine but this one was her worst c-section experience.

Try not to google or YouTube anything. That always makes things worse. I know how it is to want to prepare yourself, but if you're anything like me, I will always stumble upon the WORST CASE and it scares me to death.

Take care and think positive! You'll probably do just fine! :))

Out of my four kids, all our were c-sections and that was not by my first choice. I had a tough time of it.

Don't watch any more youtube videos. Can you talk to your doc again about your fears? Also your dh. Tell him my husband was freaked out by it too, but it was so much better for both of us having him there in the room. I can remember feeling panicky and he just touched my arm and I felt safer. Maybe you can explain it like that? Also that way he is right there with the baby the whole time. That's better too.

Also try to have some extra meals frozen for the week or two (or three) after. Give yourself as much time as you can after to heal.

I have a pile of baby stuff by my desk. I've been collecting it for you and will mail it as soon as the box is full. Don't let it hold up your shower though. Good thoughts! Vanessa 3|1|Oh my, Gwen....stop watching those videos! Anything on YouTube involving a c-section birth must be something dramatic and extreme.....you'll just get yourself all upset and worried even more. I was never so relieved in all my life than when my OBGYN told me I'd have a scheduled c-section with my twins.....I was all worked up and worried about the labor I'd have to go through to delivery two babies since the day I had found out I was having twins. And my DH is a nurse also, so he was fascinated by the process and peeked over the top of the drape to watch the whole thing :P Tell your DH NOT to look over the drape, that's why it's there! :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|19:33:30|04/13/2011|

I have 2 uteruses & 2 cervixes & he was coming breech so a c-section was a given. From the time my water broke to when he was brought into this world, it was only 4 & 1/2 hrs. I was 27 yrs. old. I was running up & down stairs like nothing & driving all over showing him off the day after I got out of the hospital. LOL I did quite a bit of walking while pg & had also gone to the chiropractor a few times so I don't know if that had anything to do w/it or not, but I actually felt great during my pregnancy & afterwards. The only drawback for me was that I developed uterine infection afterwards & the specialist I seen for that was FURIOUS w/my reg. drs. who performed the c-section. Other than that, I honestly don't recall feeling that much pain at all of my son's birth. :)
Since you mentioned having other kids, this one should be that much easier so try not to worry. :) Remember, you've already done this before so you have the knowledge of those births as your best educator. And don't watch or read things like that YouTube video cuz your hormones are making your emotions fluctuate more intensely as it is so it's just going to be that much more upsetting for you, kwim? ;)

You'll do fine, Gwen. For me, the repeat wasn't so bad. I knew what to expect, which I didn't really know the first time around. Worry about things as they come... no sense fretting now. Tell your hubby no peeking --- he stays right by your head the whole time. Don't worry about him... just tell the nurses he's the squeamish type and they'll keep an eye on him.

Focus on doing what you can to make this a healthy pregnancy... and that means mentally too. No more scary videos, no 'Rosemary's Baby' type movies either ;) Just be sure you ask your doctor lots of questions and though it is a little more work for them if you're heavier, they are trained to handle your type of case. Considering that your hospital is smaller, just think of the repeat as what's best for you and baby. Heavy, hard contractions for a long time can be hard on c-section scars and though you'd normally be a VBAC candidate, if they worry your hospital might not be able to have an anesthesiologist on hand, you do what's best and safest for baby. My kids were 8 pounders and my first failed to progress (got stuck) so the second one being a boy and expected just as big we just went with a repeat. If your baby is expected to maybe be bigger due to your health concerns, a c-section might be best anyway. Trust me on this one... having a kid stuck in the birth canal is no picnic! Whatever is best for baby is what's best for you both.

Take it easy and prop up those feet :) 7|1|I have a needle phobia. So was so worried about the IV, never even gave the actual c section a second thought. Looking back, that was probably a good thing. It will all be fine Gwen, and as Joy said, stay away from u tube.|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|21:06:58|04/13/2011|

I had a c section the first time becasue my son was breech, butt first and folded in half. I could feel his feet next to his head under my ribs. The second was natural and the third was induced. You have to know why you had your section and discuss it with your MD if you can try to deliver. I would pick going natural anyday of the week. I was discharged and playiing outside with my first child the 3rd day after delivery. Good luck.
