If you used your ebay groupon yet...can you use a partial amount or do you have to use the whole thing?

Once you use your gift card on eBay.com, your remaining balance will be credited to your PayPal account. Here's how you can use your gift card balance to buy items on eBay:
Enter your 13-digit redemption code at checkout. You can also find your redemption code by going to the "My Money" section on your PayPal profile page.
Click "Apply," and your gift card balance will be applied to your purchase.
Hopefully its the same for the Groupons.
