Ok, so I go to get in on the last minute deals and here's what I got:
2 - frosted flakes $2.00 each
4 - pedigree dentastix b1g1 $2.00
2 - pedigree dog food $4.00
1 - packing tape 1.00
1 - dog bone $3.50
total $21.66
I had the following coupons:
2 - frosted flakes 1/1
2 - pedigree dentastix 1/1
2 - pedigree dog food 3/1
Total after coupons SHOULD have been: $ 11.10
BUT my total was $13.82
I looked over my crt because the cashier would not go over it on the computer and I could not see it even though I told her the total was wrong.
I found that instead of the $3 co's coming off the dog food they came off of 2 of the dentastix and the 2 dentastix co's came off of the other ones AND they only gave me 1.98 credit towards the b1g1. I asked the cashier where the manager was and she pointed him out to me and get this one............... he REFUSED to do a return because he said he couldn't get the coupons out of her drawer because then her drawer would be short. I said so do the return on her drawer (thinking to myself DUH) and he says that he isn't a REAL manager, he's just a key holder?????????????? I asked what that meant (never heard that one b4) and he said that he only holds the key to the safe, he can't do any returns on anyone else's drawers only his and if he does the return on his drawer then he can't reuse the coupons so the total will be more than I paid. WHAT????????????? He tells me I have to come back tomorrow while the general manager is there. I'm like freaking what? I was so po'd I could have spit on him! I told him flat out.... ok, so say if you were to come into my store and my computer messed up and STOLE $2.02 from you (not including sales tax) you wouldn't WANT your money back? He said yes but I can't help you, I can't do the return on her drawer and she can't do returns and you'll have to come back in the morning. I was FUMING by now! I am so po'd I can't see straight to type this. So now, I have to WASTE MY TIME to drive back over there in the morning to get what is RIGHTFULLY MINE! MY MONEY! I can hardly WAIT to get into the store in the morning............... I am so mad! I bet I have smoke coming out of my ears! Lesson learned....... if you are buying products via the same manufacter and have coupons on the different items you are purchasing at DG ....... BUY THEM IN SEPARATE TRANSACTIONS! *shakes head*

THESE CASHIERS REALLY PISS ME OFF at Dollar General.. I have such a hard time, I decided not to shop here anymore..

She ended up just returning 1 of the dentastix and reringing it as free and giving me the extra 2 cents. She said that the KEY MASTER was new and must not have fully understood what was wrong, that it wasn't the coupons at all, it was the way the computer took off the coupons that kept me from getting the 4th dentastix for free. And she told me that the computer is set up to take off 1 cent less than the actual b1g1 free price because it has to have SOME price in order to keep the inventory straight. I told her that since they had it set up that way then their ad should read buy 1 get 1 for 1 penny not free. She nodded and just gave me my extra 2 cents.
I know I know, 2 cents is a little petty BUT if they do that to every customer that walks into their stores how much money are the MAKING? A lot I'm sure.

I have notcied that with cvs deals where you earn the ecb bucks, for example: says earn $2.00 but when I got the buck back it was only for $1.97, not $2...so I guess they do the same thing take off cents to keep track of the inventory, does make sense though...but I think they should state that also.

I've always been pretty happy w/my Dollar General but lately I've been getting upset w/them. There have been a few things that have had "special" or "sale" prices next to the products on the shelf but they've been ringing up higher at the register than what their price tags or newspaper ad has. This has never happened there before so I don't know if the clerks are getting lazy & not programming the "special" or "sale" prices in the machine or if they're starting to get sneaky like so many other stores in getting people to buy the product during these tough economic times. :(
If I catch it in the store, I bring it to their attention but I'm finding their actually NOT giving the sale price & give me the story that the price wasn't adjusted in the register. Mostly it's been things I normally buy anyway but the other day it was a brand of toilet paper that I don't normally buy but did because they had the "special" tag next to it saying, "Was $7" in yellow & "Now $5" in red, so I was overcharged $2. :-p I didn't catch that one til I got home cuz I was gabbing but am going back w/my receipt tomorrow. Hmph!
ETA: And I'm really getting tired of standing in line for 15 min. cuz it's busier than heck & there's only 1 cashier working while the other 2-3 workers are gathered around outside having a smoke! There are 2 registers/check-outs & when it's busy like that, one of the other workers is supposed to get their fanny over there & open up the 2nd one. But I've noticed a couple of the workers who have been there for quite awhile are no longer working there & the store has hired younger ones in their place who don't even put your stuff in a bag half the time. Seems to be going to pot since they got a new manager a couple yrs. ago. That's really sad cuz our town really needs this store but now I worry it won't be able to stay in business if the b.s. continues. :(
