Please pray it goes well, & that I can survive the morning w/no coffee. LOL I can take all my meds except for the Bystolic but I can have NOTHING else but water before the test. Ugh! I'm bringing a travel mug of coffee with so I can have some as soon as the test is done. LOL

Boy was I an idiot. I thought it was just a matter of going in, hopping on the treadmill & be on my way again. Not! ROFL!! But I managed to endure the test & now just have to wait a week to discuss w/my dr. what the cardiologist's take is on it. I do know already that I have a couple extra beats & some tachycardia (sp?) but hope that's all, & that I'm just more out of shape than anything. ;-p LOL The worst part was not being able to have my coffee this morning & guess what? When I was done, my dr. (bless his wonderful heart!) went out & came right back w/a cup of hot coffee for me! :D Best dr. in the world, & he also happens to work very closely w/cardiology/pulmonary!! :)

I gave them all a pretty good chuckle, including myself, when I admitted that I thought it was just a matter of getting on the treadmill & that would be it. LOL
My chest area is a little sore this morning from the ultrasound stick (didn't hurt yesterday tho), & taking the tape off from the IV spot last night just about sent me flying. Yowza! LOL Dang, I need some good tape like that! It was SO good that it even held my cloth gown together during my time on the treadmill despite the ultrasound gel & my sweat. But the IV going in & the time on the treadmill was the worst of it. Glad it's done, & now just to sit & stew til I get the results next week.
And I need to get the tires replaced on my bike so I can use that again. Exercise is not my forte but I do love riding bike so that's my goal to do again. :)

My dr. ordered it. Heart disease is rampant on both sides of my immediate family - on the one side is heart & lung disease & on the other is heart disease & high blood pressure. One of my sisters passed away 8 yrs. ago at age 50 of a massive heart attack, my dad passed away 10 yrs. ago from COPD & CHF. My mom has high blood pressure & heart disease (a less severe form), & I have high blood pressure, asthma, extra heart beats & some tachycardia along w/shortness of breath. My risk factors are pretty high so my dr. wants to stay on top of things, ruling out possible problems or finding & treating them.

If your asthma is being reasonably controlled w/meds & avoiding irritants, there shouldn't be too much shortness of breath.
But there's still alot of misconception about breathing trouble being related only to the lungs/lung disease. However, lung disease can easily lead to heart problems as the heart & lungs work together.
I'm out of shape too, so I'm aware of that, but like my dr. says, I should still be able to do a reasonable amount of everyday household tasks w/out so much shortness of breath, like carrying in groceries or vacuuming the floor in one room. I know if I could get rid of the major kangaroo pouch I carry in the front, that will help my breathing too. Hard part is, I have to have Depo shots for a different issue & the Depo causes weight gain, which seems to zero in on my stomach. :-p

Well, I'm definitely out of shape, but the test also showed one of my heart muscles is a little thicker than my dr. had expected to see. I understand this could be due to a number of reasons, one of them being high blood pressure which I have. I was told that over time it will likely get thicker but we're hoping it will be a loooong time as the thicker it gets the more it increases the risk of heart attack &/or heart failure. Moderate exercise is helpful so as much as I hate exercising just for the sake of exercising, he gave me some light exercise suggestions to start out with slowly. Not much walking tho since it seems to make my hips scream. But riding bike, which I love, will work. He said it can take up to 6 mos. tho before noticing any benefits & that's why alot of people give up - cuz they're under the mistaken impression there should be noticeable results w/in just a couple of mos. I'm glad he told me cuz I DID think that, so at least now I know not to feel so disappointed & defeated after only a couple mos. or so, & to keep at it.
But I'm grateful the results are only what they are & not something worse. This I can deal with. :)
