Well i will make this short as possible back in January my ex-husband had the kids for his weekend visitation and while he had them he filed for a restraining order against me and an order of protection against me for the kids so i lost my kids until we went to court our first court date was just so that we could get a court date this was a huge mess. I wont bore you with all the details because there are so many of them including the fact that our divorce papers were screwed up and i had to get those fixed but i ended up getting my kids back March 1st. I only got to see them 2 times from January 12 to March 1st for a total of 30 min each time i wasnt allowed anywhere near them because of his accuasations towards me of course they were all false and proven that way in the end. It is no where near over with. I now have had to get a restraing order against him for harrasment and threating me. And he is taking me to court for joint custody if not full custody. Like i said its been a huge mess. I have had to drop out of school temporarily because of all of this but plan on going back in the fall. ALL my money right now goes towards my attorney without him i would not have gotten my children back. But that leaves me in serious trouble elsewhere trying to pay bills but what do i do i will not lose my kids. Some of you already know parts of this story from keeping up with me on facebook but i thought i would fill those of you in that didnt seeing as i have been MIA and plan and coming back around more now. Like i said before all my money right now has been going towards my attorney and when i got the kids back they had grown so much i had to go buy them new clothes because they had pretty much outgrown all the clothes i had for them especially my dd she had no jeans that fit her anymore. Anyway my electric bill is due on the 28 and its $249 and i have no idea how im going to pay it i have applied for energy assistance but they said there is no way that it will be approved in that short of a time period. So im open for suggestions here. I have no family to borrow from here all the family i could borrow from i borrowed from for my attorney and paid them back off with my income tax so they are not going to loan me money again knowing i have no way to pay them back and lets just say the rest of my family we are not on speaking terms due to the situation im going through its a big mess. They have not been standing behind me on all of this but like i said thats a diffrent story and i dont need them if they are going to be like that. I really dont know what to do at this moment and i wouldnt be posting this on here if i had any other options im pretty desperate at the moment if my electricity gets shut off its going to a big target on me for my ex to take the kids again and i cant let that happen so please help me out here like i said im open to any suggestion

I know they can offer you emergency assistance w/your electric bill if you have a shut off notice. (NJ) not sure about your state.
What about welfare? I don't know if you work or your hours so it's kind of hard to give suggestions. If your not working, look for work.

I do get food stamps but that is the only assistance i get because i get childsupport. I have applied for energy assistance as i stated above but they told me it would not be approved in time. I am in the process of listing my dd's clothes on ebay. Yard sales are really not an option for me because of my location i live out in the boonies LOL Im pushing childsuport enforcement on geting the exhusband to pay childsupport because he does not i only get childsupport on my oldest dd. I have nothing else at the house i can shut off i only have the basics as it is no long distance the only reason i have internet is because of my dd and her schooling she does so much homework with it and when i was going to college i used it all the time and when i go back i will be using it again. No TV to speak of meaning to satelite or cable i really dont have anything else i can cut back on. If i was running any of a tighter ship it would sink Im not giving you all the poor poor pitiful me story trying to get you all to feel sorry for me or anything im just hoping you can help me come up with some ideas as what to do

I've also did some medical research studies, they paid $100 a month and studies lasted 6 months, so $600 each.
Also if you have stockpiles you can sell in here, that would bring in great extra cash.
I shop at the resale shops for clothes, only thing I buy new is underwear, socks, bra's.
**sign up for all the market research studies or surveys on line, they do help bring in extra cash or can redeeem for gift cards which does help.
**Call your local salvation army- my sister once didn't have money to pay her electric and they gave her the money to pay it.

What about Salvation Army? Sometimes they can help with bills.
Have you asked the electric company if you can make a partial payment to keep the lights on and then make another payment(s) to pay it off. That would give you more time to get the money together or get assistance.

When we were low on cash, the electric company said we could make a payment of whatever we could then they would carry over the balance and add $5 service charge. Can you do that?

In most states in towns at local churches they have programs that offer help for electric bills
Manna House is a big one here If your getting help food stamps, wic, community housing there are so many programs out there Ask at you dr. office or ymca, womans groupo or mens like rotary or jaycees
they are there to help the community. Also if you cannot pay you electric bill they cannot turn it off if you have any children under 18 or someone who is sick or diabled if you tell them and your can pay 5 month they will not

I dont believe we have a Manna House around here but there are alot of churches i can check and diffrent clubs like the Lyons club or Elks maybe places like that. I have never been in this situation before so i have never really thought about it before i appreciate your help
