Can you sprinkle some loose seed around the feeder for 4-5 days in a row and see if that lures them back around? If that isn't possible because of cats you might try to move it to another tree and see if they respond to that.

Hope they come back soon! 2|1|I moved a feeder to another branch and they stopped eating!|couponshelmd|couponshel@comcast.net|11:50:00|03/08/2011|

I am not kidding you! The branch was hanging over the driveway too much so hubby lopped it off with a saw. So I moved the bird feeder to the other side of the tree/yard (big tree) and honestly, I think they cannot find it yet :( The boys painted some gourd bird houses and I want to hang them in the same tree, hopefully I won't "spook" the birds away from their food again. 3|1|Our cats are inside cats and I rarely see the neighbrs cat in our yard as it is fenced BUT|teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|12:15:46|03/08/2011|

I do have Lily lol I see her around the ground under the feeder alot I am not sure if she scares them away tho as we really have had two dogs since we lived here with the exception of last spring and summer in between Sam and Lily. We have in on a shepards hook in the same spot It is not longer than the old one so it does not hang lower it is just wider so it fits more seed
We also have two suet cakes in the ends of it in the holders I will have to ask Nick if they are eating them As it has been getting nicer here I can hear the birds out there but they are just avoiding the feeder I miss my nihty visit from the Cardnal 4|1|When we first started, our birds did not like the plastic tube feeders. Then we went to mesh/screen type feeders. We have one with a smaller mesh/screen for thistle seed for the goldfinches, and we have a larger screen type for the sunflower seed for the chickadees, nut-hatches. You might want to try a tray feeder with some kind of cover.

I am totally jealous that you have cardinals! My mom sees cardinals in town close to us, and she does not even feed them! lol!

Here is the Wild Birds Unlimited store site with different feeders pictured.

Our old one was like it but wood and did not have the suet holders on the end Unless there is a better feeder somewhere near me that they like better the dog is the only other thing I can think of that they don't like
We have a couple Cardnals here but one used to come every night along with some sort of black bird ( have to get my book out and try to see what it is We also had a woodpecker the year before last that took a liking to out gutters and the metal at the top of our chimney lol he would peck on it and it would echo through the house lol 6|2|You would think those woodpeckers would get such a headache with how they carry on! lol!|mindylou86|mindylou86@gmail.com|15:34:47|03/08/2011|

I don't have a dog, just a husband, and the birds don't seem to mind him too much! lol

LOL Some of my favorites are the nuthatches, juncos, coopers hawks, woodpeckers, and ruby throated thrushes.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:50:14|03/08/2011|
