I was at Target yesterday and spent about an hour walking and finding bargains. Just about everything in basket had a coupon to go along with it with the exception of a few items since my 6 year old was with me. I didn't have much, maybe 15 items total. I waited my turn, the cashier scanned my items and I gave her my coupons. The coupons were all scanning fine but I could hear the young girl behind my sighing heavily like I was wasting her time. Then I could hear her foot tapping and saw her tapping her fingers on her leg like I was inconveniencing her by her having to wait her turn. What do you do when people are rude like this? I wanted to tell her if she'd pay for my order I'd gladly take my unscanned coupons and be on my way. 1|1|People can be so rude!! Its just so rude. Recently I had a lady **sigh** and burn a hole with her eyes into my skull because the cashier was taking what she **perceived** as too long with my coupons. I didn't have mountains of coupons, nor a problem transaction, or even a huge cartful of items. It was just the cashier was newer. But really it wasn't all that long.
If they act like that over having to wait 2 minutes longer than necessay, I'd hate to see them when they really have to wait.

Not to mention I watch every item and have no quams disputing errors. Seriously.....I waited my turn patiently in line while women clammored through pocketbooks to find their debit card, a man holding up the line while his kid ran back to get the candy bar he wanted.....but heaven's forbid, someone use coupons that they've already ORGANIZED and sorted.......It's not like I'm scrambling to get my coupons together....I have them matched up to each item in an orderly fashion...so they are already to be scanned.......but this rude chick behind me was rolling her eyes and mumbling to her boyfriend.....
You know what.....I just ignore the ignorance now........unless they want to pay for my groceries they can clam it.......I saved $29 off my order last night, literally cutting my total in half......

I think I use coupons and a church lady sometimes uses them and that about sums it up. I can't prove it but I really think that over the years my skin grew thicker. I get a lot of sighs, holes drilled and worse. Every so often though someone comes along and says something really kind and it propels me along through the meanness until the next good one.
My least favorite is Safeway. They only open 1-2 lanes most of the time, often 15 items or less lines and the store is always busy. I could live with that, but the employees hate coupons too. I've spent years trying to change them. I have the office manager on my side because she loves to see my savings and tries to copy some of the deals and there is one single mom cashier who I also adore. The rest of them, well they are harder to love, but I try my hardest to be nice.
It's all part of the game! Not my favorite part either, but it is fun when other shoppers follow me out the door and ask how I do it. :0)
I don't want to sound like I am bad mouthing my city though. are the same people who would not dedicate the time or efforts to doing any of it because they think it is too complicated. They say they don't have time. Even the cashiers. My reply is usually something like well I just saved x number of dollars in x number of hours and that's more than some people make in a day or a week. How could someone not have time to make more money in a few hours than they do in such longer periods?! They usually say I never thought of it that way. And then I usually tell them to me these coupons are a fist full of money. If you mug me take anything but my coupons because saving is the same as making the money in my book when its stuff you are going to use anyway for yourself. Not to mention all the other ways to make better with it too but that part they don't need to know in a short term conversation. If we told them the possibilities that come with couponning as far as forums and donations and stockpiles, reselling, etc their heads would spin I swear! Not to mention there's no time for that. One young guy was so funny. He said he couldn't wait til his break to call his mom to tell him my out come at a target. It was just paying a couple bucks for a few carts of stuff and getting 3 $5 gift cards. i usually do just try to ignore them but when it's some snotty college girl (we live in a college town) tapping her fingers and sighing i just get aggravated. i act like i don't see it and carry on. i'm sure her daddy was paying for her purchases anyway.
