Haven't tried it myself though cause I'd never remember to catch the washer at the rinse cycle.

I tried dryer balls this winter and they didn't work AT ALL....although truthfully, I had gotten them for free from someone and there may be ones that are more effective on the market.

Let us know if you try any of the tricks. I had never heard of the reusable sheets...I might have to check those out.

4|1|I use vinegar in the wash, seems to help alot with softness, so I dont use liquid fabric softener anymore...but it doesnt help with static in the dryer, so I still use a dryer sheet.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|15:33:44|03/02/2011|

What's the science behind it? :)

9|3|They keep the laundry from tumbling all in one mass, allowing more airflow in the fabrics.....I use tennis balls also, cuts down drying time and keeps things like jeans legs, sheets, towels from twisting and bunching up in a ball :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:48:14|03/03/2011|

when they dry large items like bedspreads and comforters. They do dry faster with the tennis balls than without, but I wouldn't recommend using them with high heat.

My guess is that they have enough weight and 'bounce' to keep the material from bunching up in the middle of the dryer. They keep the air circulating through the clothes better. HTH

10|2|you could toss an old tennis shoe in there for the same effect...we do with blankets, and sometimes towels|carmenanderson|cloudcars@verizon.net|10:15:21|03/03/2011|

12|2|Good point on the heat setting, Amy....I dry my stuff on medium and dont have any trouble with the tennis balls...but you do need to replace them when the fuzzy stuff starts to wear off so the rubber part of the ball is covered :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:20:47|03/03/2011|
