2|1|we have and your best bet is to call around and talk to lawyers to find out what you need to do and what you have to have |lydzkydz|wyldkydz@embarqmail.com|19:42:54|03/02/2011|

ALOT Of paper work and you have to find lots of stuff for them
and have your tax papers ready for 2 years

and find out fees before you settle for a certain lawyer

thank goodness i knew our lawyer and she let us make payments but most wont do that

it is a relief when it is all over but a long drawn out process was to me anyways

then we had to do 2 online sessions of reading all this stuff and that cost money
and had to answer questions in a certain time
we did the sessions together not seperate then had to call a number and we both had to talk to the person

maybe other people are able to help you better then i can
i know others emailed me with answers when we were talking about it

please include your user name on refundsweepers.
i appreciate all the trades made in the past.

THANKS!! 3|2|my advice is not to do it unless it's absolutely necessary|KellyJef|burke3536@yahoo.com|12:59:33|03/03/2011|

:( 4|1|I used to prepare these several years ago. Do you have any specific questions? Many attorneys offer a low-fee or no-fee consult. 7s used to be a lot easier to get, but now more people are fitting into 13s (a structured repayment plan). |Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|17:16:06|03/03/2011|

To prepare for a meeting, you'll want to bring:

* All of your bills (last bill is probably ok) because they will need addresses. Don't just write them down as say your credit card, for example, probably has a specific address for bankruptcy paper work to go.

* Your past few months of pay stubs. If direct deposit, your past few bank account statements.

* All bank account statements. If you get Social Security - they need to see the direct deposit

* A list of what your bills are --- some are fixed. You can live without Netflix, for example, but you need to have a list of bills you can't live without. Such as:

How much your electric bill is
How much do you spend on gas getting to/from work
Medical expenses (monthly rx costs, etc.)
Groceries
Mortgage/rent payments
car ins. etc.

** remember, even if you pay your car insurance every 6 months, you just pro-rate a monthly amount for each bill.

Etc.

What I would do is search online for an income/expense sheet. Many sites have bankruptcy forms you can just download and print out.

* A list of assets. Yard sale value! Your $1500 big screen TV isn't worth $1500. They need to know what you have so they can juggle exemptions if need be. They even expect you to list your wedding rings ;)

* Gambling debts

* Anything you might have in your house that belongs to someone else (are you storing someone's tools?)

* Nowadays, you have to have gone through some kind of credit counseling. If you have, make sure you have name, address, etc. of where you went.

* NADA value of vehicles if you can find it.

They need to get an idea of what you owe, what you own and how much money you have. Also, if you have a retirement account, they'll need the plan documents eventually. Definitely find an attorney and remember, you get what you pay for. There was an attorney in the town I worked at who did bankruptcies uber cheap. He had no secretary to help people and he hand typed (shudder) all of the forms himself. He was also a jerk. LOL. He did bare minimum for you, for sure.
