Well my dad is a little better..still in the ICU. I have become a fixture at the hospital..
I finally came home to bath and get some sleep..so why can't I sleep? BUT anyways..
My dad made them take out the ventilator...seems to be doing so-so...It's been a long recovery
process..hoping he pulls thru. So..on my way home..I was in a car wreck. : ( thankfully no one
was hurt..just very upset.. SIGH..LIFE. The police thought I was hurt because I was
uncontrollable... But he was very nice and settled me down to know that I was ok..It was just my life
that was causing me to go into hysterics. My dad will have to go to a rehab center once he can get
out of the hospital..I am thinking that's when I need to go home. Haley has been really good thru it all..
i've stayed at the hospital everynight except twice since we've been here. I'm stressed, overwhelmed,
tired.. BUT I'm with my dad...it was so very hard to see him on the vent, heavily sedated..it wasn't my dad
you know? I've tried to stay strong..and have composed myself in his room and managed to hyperventilate
only in the waiting room bathroom. My dads doctors come in the room every morning, and they always say..
"are you still here"...my dad has had some good days and of course, a lot of bad days...he's having problems
breathing...can't walk on his own yet.. but we are all making progress. So please keep the prayers and good
thoughts coming our way!! My dad does not sleep hardly at all..so the nights are very long...I text alot.
my hubby has never been a texter.. but now he is..he keeps me occupied. : ) Everyone thanks for your endless
prayers and your nice emails..I appreciate that I have so many great friends that care. It's been so good being
home and being with everyone...and helping when it is needed. Travis is here working in the coal mines..he's been a big
help too. He is a talker..so he keeps dad occupied with his stories. : ) He is so much like me!!
But anyways...just want to let everyone know that regardless of what happens in your life..and how busy you are..be sure
to tell the people in your life how much you love them...and say out loud what is in your heart. The first night that I was
here when dad was heavily sedated and on the vent I held his hand and I told him how much I loved him, and how sorry I
was that I moved 1,000 miles away and how that he has always been the best dad in the world to me. I talked and talked to him
for endless hours...so many hours i would stand by his bed and just hold his hand...the nurses would always come in and
give me a hug and tell me to be strong...I held up, but on the inside I have been breaking all along...Today I took him for a walk
thru the halls and I held his hand...we were talking about the past and he told me that he would never forget the day travis was born
and when the doctor first held travis he went to give him to me, and I said no, give him to my dad..and my dad was the first person
to hold travis.. my dad said, I'll never forget that... of course, I almost fainted and I had to take a puff of his oxygen.. : )
but that meant so much to me. I have prayed more then I have ever before and I know I have lots more to go...AND I could go on and on
with this post...BUT SIGH..just need to get it out sometimes!! I know I'm an emotional wreck right now..AND I may never say
this again..But I love you guys and I appreciate your kindness, support and prayers!!! Hugs!!

11|1|((((SHELLY)))) I think about all of you everyday and pray....I totally agree with you about telling our loved ones how you feel and don't wait cause you may never get a chance, my dad died of a heart attack on his kitchen floor putting away groceries, my dad and I were always close and it's still hard for me, even though he's been gone nearly 10 yrs.
