It happened Wednsday night in Allentown, Pa. Almost 38 homes destroyed or badly damaged & 5 people died. Including a 16 yr old & her 4 month old baby & gram. They still don't know what caused it.It looked worst then a war zone. Still looking for more victims. Some are missing yet. It made CNN & HLN networks.
The gas co. was just there on Monday & no leaks & no one smelled anything. Then this happened. We felt it all the way down by our house. It was felt as far as 15 miles.
Now everyone is getting together for all types of help & benefits. I pray for all these people & those who were there to help out.
It also was in the same area across the street that 17 yrs ago the senior high rise had a gas explosion. The gas line was put in 1928. Needs to be replaced now.
My thoughts & prayers go out to all.

so sad, got to always have your soul ready. 5|3|Seems fishy to me that they were there two days before. They had to have known of a problem and I hope the families with losses pursue that thought, One happenned in Columbiana county and I used to be out there all the time. Does anyone know if there's a way to trace the ages or location of our gas lines in our towns?|wegogo|mike15461@gmail.com|07:26:21|02/12/2011|

This house used to have gas I can see the old pipes (cast iron) in our floors but we do all electric now. There have been so many lately all across the country. It would be really nice to know the status of the lines close to our own houses! We are on the main street here so that can't be good. 6|1|I seen this & another one in MI on the news the other day... This is so tragic. :( My prayers for all of them.|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|08:35:16|02/12/2011|

kept smelling gas & everyone told me I was nuts. Well when the gas co. came out for a survey, they found it, the pipe going out to the street was leaking. Who knows for how long. Old pipes that were never replaced. So they replaced them. No cost to us. So next time maybe they will believe me. You can't mess w/ that.

I hate when we say we hear a noise in the car or smell something or taste something bad and the male species act like we are crazy! They should all be bowing to you for saving their lives! Some if us just have more sensitive noses and sensitive taste buds. Every time I don't follow my instinct it goes badly! I had a camper one time and we just filled the propane right before we came home and the next morning I went to let the dogs out I smelled rotten eggs. Of course I was nuts but funny how nothing that ran on propane was working! He looked under neath (my x) and saw the drive shaft had rubbed a hole in the line! LOVELY! If it smells bad, tastes bad or feels bad follow your gut! Better to be safe and crazy than dead and sorry! The old gas lines probably weren't expected to be there that long nearing 80+ years and I think we are going to keep seeing this happen before they start doing mandatory checks and preventative medicine! That's why I sure wish we had an idea how to start our own investigations. Like maybe the gasline blue print or something. Driller, is this something you would know how to find? 9|1|Now they are selling an item for gas fumes in the stores for around $60.00.|seahawk|Seahawks57@aol.com|18:38:18|02/13/2011|

I'm planning on getting one, besides our carbon mac. device. I don't take chances.
Thanks,
