I just got my recent blood work test results back, among everything else I am STILL anemic... Low iron even thought I have been taking extra iron for months. It kills my stomach and now he wants me on a does 10x more then I am alread taking.... Ugh!

After I had my child, I found out I was anemic as well. My iron count was at 35 and my overall blood level was at a five. What happened was when I had a c-section, I lost too much blood and my system never rebuilt it due to have a gastric bypass surgery. I had to have a blood transfusion of 5 units.

I think I posted a few months ago to your anemic post. Well, I had a blood transfusion about 4 months ago and was taking 3-325mg of iron tabs daily. Doc did a checkup and the level was over 17--too high. She cut me back to 1 iron tab and 3 months later, number was 9.7---too low. So we are now trying 2-325 mg a day and will check the number again.My doc i an internal medicine doc but I think I am about to be sent to a hematologist if we can't get this better soon. Since I am older there are no periods to think about for me. I have been having blood tests regularly for years because I take Lipitor but this anemia just reared its ugly head in the last year. Thank heavens I am ok on the iron pills with no side effects. Good luck to you! I can say if your number gets too low, a blood transfusion really fixes you up for awhile. I was so tired and actually got very out of breath when my number was a 7. I am still feeling ok at 9.7 so I don't know when the real symptoms kick in but I know a 7 was the pits! 22|2|YA know I have no idea how different I would feel if I get my levels back up! Where did you find the 325?? I can only find small does pills. I think 28 is the largest I have. I have had the IV's when my Iron was really low, they do last for quite a while. YOu may want to ask your doctor about that form of therapy,
