Just seen where we are to get HUGE snow storm starting Tues afternoon and ending Wed afternoon/evening. Potential for 12-18 inches of snow with winds 15 mph or higher so drifting of it will happen as well. Yuck. Already under winter storm watch and this storm is a couple days out yet. I am soooo sick of snow..got quite a bit out there already but of course feel even WORSE for those out East as this will hit you after we get it. You poor people..feel sooo badly for you all. :( Batten down the hatches...again! Currently under a Winter Weather Advisory here from midnight tonight thru 6 a.m. Tues. morning. Says we can get anywhere from 3" to 6-7" by Tues. morning so I expect the Advisory to be changed to a Winter Storm Warning at some point.
(sigh) I am SO ready for spring!

omg........i hope it dont reach ky......one ice storm in my life is enought............we had power lines down....power POLES broken in half.........no power for
i think it was 14 or 15 days.......i cant remember..........but it was a mess........roads were blocked for days on end.....and i mean major roads...not just back roads
back roads were blocked and neighbors had the cut the trees so these people could get out.....ect...
i never wanna go thru that again...

Going to grocery store today, dig out the generator & get it up on the deck, fill up gas cans, mail out my bills & do all my errands. Figure come tomorrow I'll be stuck & can't get out, so if no one hears from me, you know I'm buried under ice with no power!!!

on the 3rd day to just refill gas cans....couldnt get milk,bread,,ect.....all the stores lost power......gave away all their frozen stuff...ect
at gas stations.....people were arguing to get inline....ect........i had a crock pot.........but nothing more....son loaned me a griddle and i bought a electric skillet
to cook in.......so i could hook it up on generator......i was lucky.....i had water.....but of course it was either heat it on wood burner or.....take a cold bath..lol
im sure hoping we dont get the ice.........again

Gere are a couple things I learned
if you don't hae a generator and can get one do so it is a life saver
if you have a gas grill make sure it has gas
get a couple battery operated camping lights and ofcourse batteries
if you have a fir eplace and can block off that room even if it is with sheets dp so if you lose your heat and use that fireplace of course only if you know yours is safe to use and you have wood lol
if you take any meds that need to be kept cold have some ice on hand and a cooler
make sure your car is filled up
if you have a cell phone make sure it is charged and if you don't all ready ave a car charger for your phone get one it maybe the only way to keep it charged and you never know if you will need the phone
buy baby wipes they can help keep you less stinky lol
and first off stay safe and stay home it isn't worth the risk going out in itbring out the board games

Bought groceries & took daughter to get her's, generator is out & ready, gas cans filled, hubby just went to check on a keroscene heater if worse comes to worse. Our power company is saying for people to be ready & prepared for at least 5 days without power if we get what they are saying. So, this should be so much fun! Thank God we have a nice, big generator, so I can have water, electric heaters, lights, tv & keep my freezer & refrig. going & if not running a bunch of things, I can get on computer for a while. Cell phones are charged & I'm searching for my old rotary phone as we will lose phone. All laundry is done, car is full of gas, so have done just about all I can do except pull grill up closer to the house, but I can use my microwave with this generator, so, probably won't have to resort to cooking outside in the cold. Everyone take care, hunkering down here & hoping for the best, will not be going anywhere unless it's an emergency, so will stay home & be safe. Hope everyone else does the same.

newspaper came out like 2 wks later...showing pics of how people survived.......had shirts saying i survived the ice storm..lol
but one of the funniest things i saw..........someone got so desperate for a bath.....they had an old cast iron tub....and they lived in country......they filled it up...built a fire under it.....and took a bath!!!!!
my daughter in law....and her family.....drove several miles.......paid $50 at hotel......for like 8 of them to take a bath......
and even some hotels got in trouble charging people $25 and up ........for a bath....
i agree with teener.......baby wipes is better than nothing!!!!!!
id suggest to fill up all the empty jugs and containers you can with water..........everyone in city limits here was without water for several days 21|2|All very good advice pal!
