I always print my labels and then drop off to the girl behind the counter. Take them in between 4 and 5. Small post office only one employee there then. Done it for years. Today I go in and the girl tells me they have to check the weights, package size, zip code, etc. and scan them in. She said I had to wait there while she did it and she printed me a receipt. Took a long time and then there were 2 or 3 people in line behind me. She told me this was happening at all post offices. Anyone else find this? I am not too happy about it! I asked her what about the automated postal attendent centers and the shoot where you can drop off in big post offices. She said she had not idea. What are you experiencing?

She said that her post office was going to be doing more spot checks of the packages to make sure the weights are correct....not though that they'd be weighing every single package. If they do that, it defeats some of the purpose of printing the labels yourself.
If they hold you up every time you go in, maybe you could start scheduling pickups at your home?
I haven't taken any packages in the last few days, so I don't know myself.
lauren 2|1|A long time ago that rule had been put in but you don't normally see it if you are a regular. Did you know as long as you have one priority package you can schedule a pickup and it is free. Other wise I think its 12 bucks. Never had to pay for one and do prefer taking them in. 5 plus years.
There are 2 girls that work there. I am not sure how the other one will handle it. We will see. I called a couple of post offices in larger towns near by and they don't know anything about it and don't do it. So it is not all post offices!! I have figured that out. This girl is kind of nervous about stuff maybe she read a memo or something and got scared and thought she would be in trouble. I am not taking anything in today. So we will see what happens next week. I would like to go in earlier to talk to the post master. But I don't want to get this girl in trouble if she misunderstood. I know other people in town print and mail packages for ebay so maybe she will get it lined out from them. Some of them won't hesitate to complain. 4|3|I would certainly set her straight. She sounds like she may just be a nervous Nellie. At least you have other post offices to choose from. If you have a scan form that's all she should be scanning really. Any postal discrepancies first class or above would be returned to you or forwarded postage due.
