The little Chihuahua/Pekingese cross I had shed ALOT & his hair was like a cat's, long, very fine & flyaway. Nothing like turning on the fan in summer or the furnace kicking in in winter & watching the fur fly, literally. LOL

But frequent brushing helped reduce the worst of it, especially in spring & fall when they start shedding their old "coats" & are getting in new. I think there's also pet wipes out there that you can use - while you're petting the dog, have a wipe on your hand to catch the fur. But brushing is a great way to bond w/your pet & is relaxing for both of you. :)
I loved & still miss my little Toby SOOOO much, but I have to say I don't miss the balls of fur bunnies that gathered overnight like sneaky little gremlins. ;)

I bet your white dog is just beautiful! When I was growing up, we had a German Shepherd/Husky cross that was all white. Her name was Angel & that's exactly what she was, a beautiful white angel so good natured & wouldn't hurt a fly but an excellent watchdog. I bought her as a puppy across the street at the Catholic Church's fundraiser for 50¢! All I had was a 50¢ piece & the guy who had the puppies winked at his wife & said that was just fine. I wanted all 3 of the puppies that were left but I was only 8-9 yrs. old & could only carry 1, & I don't think my parents would've been too pleased w/me had I come home w/more than the 1 surprise that I did! LOL

TO BE OLD AND WISE, YOU FIRST HAVE TO BE YOUNG AND STUPID........... 3|1|I got one of those Furminator brushes on Amazon.....it really does help with the shedding! If you brush them daily for about a week, you will notice a difference after that....then brush about twice a week to keep the undercoat brushed out.....I swear, it works! (I have a sheltie and a greyhound, and the greyhound is actually worse for the shedding and actually leaving hair all over things).|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|22:09:45|01/08/2011|

Just about fell off my chair thinking about that prospect here. LOLOL
For one thing, Toby (the little Chihuahua/Pekingese I had) hated the vacuum cleaner so bad he'd come tearing out from a whole other room just to bite at it. LOL
And the little Chihuahua/Terrier I have currently barely lets me towel dry her off & won't let me use the blow dryer on LOW setting to help dry her off after a bath. I don't see her allowing me to try & suck her up in the vacuum cleaner. At least I don't see myself as having any fingers left on my hands to type. I don't call her "Kid Vicious" for nothing. ROFL!!

But I would think there might be a chance that a bigger breed wouldn't mind the vacuum as much....although I guess it comes down to whether they freak at the noise, and some big dogs are big babies.

They're high velocity dryers and they blow a ton of hair out after you wash the dog. Some dogs are freaked by the rush of air, but others don't mind. You get lots of hair in the tub (or where ever you blow her fur out), but at least it's a contained cleanup.

I used to groom dogs, but can't think of any other tricks off the top of my head beyond what everyone mentioned.

16|6|How often do you brush her with the shedding rake? If you do it everyday for about a week, you should notice a difference after that....and you will get a TON of hair out everytime...you are thinning out the undercoat, which is quite dense in a shepherd....|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:10:57|01/09/2011|

I have a golden retriever and no one comes in this house and leaves without some dog hair to take with them but I LOVE our dog to death and everyone that comes knows that I have this hairy dog and if they dont like dog hair then dont come here is how i feel. I vacuum everyday and I also vacuum the dog and I brush him but he just has alot of hair.

He use to shed ALOT more but we changed his food to a all natural organic dog food and that has helped a little but not that much but its a healthier dog food

Good luck with the dog hair, i know how you feel

19|8|we just got the rake a few days ago.....but she is brushed now raked...daily.......twice a day.......other wise i cant stand her..LOL|couponsnsamples|cpsnsamples@aol.com|12:42:59|01/09/2011|

this food is suppose to help with all of that. its a little more expensive then regular dog food but soo worth it 22|3|They potty stinks less and is more solid too. Not to mention less vet bills with better food and they eat less because they get more out of it. I feed it ti my cats too.
