Ok first of all she didn't call, she texted and then we chatted on FB.
And technically she's not my DIL ... she and son decided that they would wait on marriage until he returned safely from Iraq ... his deployment ends in Oct 2011.
So today is their two year anniversary, Eric is half way around the world today, and Brit (age 25) is diagnosed with cervical cancer. Age 25. It's hard to believe.
He's alone half way around the world, she's alone in a city of a million, and they are both alone. And now she's facing the fight of her life. There's nothing she can do, there is nothing he can do. Heck, there's nothing I can do.
She said "no grandkids" ... I said I don't care. I just want them both to be happy and healthy.
We haven't talked to Eric since Xmas eve. It's so hard ... I thought the first time he deployed was bad enough. Now our conversations will be filled with medical results, procedures, and lots of tears.
