home for christmas from trade school in Arizona to tell us that he has been diagnosed with malnutrition!!!! Apparently he got really sick & went to a free clinic (since he is a student w/o insurance) & they said he had pnenomia & has malnutrition. What to do as a mother?

I know he always was a child that would go for the sweets before the good foods. I remember having to lock my pantry to keep him away from eating just sweets. So am sure with little to no money & little spare time he grabs & goes. Those are some of the things I was thinking of sending too. Thanks again

My son is in his own apt. for the 1st time & he's a big juice drinker - grape, cranberry, apple, etc. - so I try to help him out w/things like that, milk, fruits & veggies, & like Joy said, soups (Campbell's Chunky), Wheatables or Wheat Thins cracker, & canned chicken & tuna. There's also the Betty Crocker Complete Meals that include everything so all that's added to it is water or milk (Cheesy Beef Taco, Stroganoff, Fried Rice w/Chicken, etc.). Pnut butter can be used on crackers, bread & cut up celery sticks. Plus, there's macaroni & cheese where cut up chunks of weiners, spam or fried up hamburger can be added to it. Then too, pizza, yogurt & cheeses, summer sausage, spaghetti & sauce, bread & boxes of microwave popcorn for snacking. Something like bagels, frozen waffles & English muffins can easily be popped in the toaster & then topped w/cream cheese, honey, jam or syrup.
These are just a few ideas of quick & easy things I help my son out with from time to time since he's not big on cooking yet & I can't bear the thought of him living on Ramen Noodles all the time. LOL
ETA: Dinty Moore beef stew & Hormel chili are a couple more things along w/nuts & Vit. C. My son is just getting over his 4th cold since he moved so I know he's not getting enough rest or eating right (not to mention being overly diligent about hand-washing) so I try to keep him stocked in the chewable Vit. C tablets.
If you have a Dollar General or Family Dollar near you it'll help alot on cost as their prices are usually pretty reasonable altho I noticed they seem to have gone up some recently. :(
But I HTH. :)
