My dad got his first. Then he purchased for me. You have to have a high speed internet connection or cable. NO
DIAL UP~

When I first got mine, I did have the cutting in & out, but figured out it was due to moving my mouse. So if you
can not be surfing the net at the same time, then you will be happy with it. Also, you have to keep in mind, when
you get messages, you have to keep them cleared out. Works really great, and YES no more phone bills.

Got five years paid in advance. Beats having to struggle with phone bill each month. Unlimited long distance
as well.

Hope this helps. You have to make sure you have a USB port of number 2 for it to work also. But is really nice to
take with you and plug into someone else`s PC or laptop. You can call your magic jack number at any time from
anywhere and enter your code and retrieve any messages, if you are wanting to check your messages while you are
away.

Only downfall to it, is you have to keep your PC on in order to rec calls. I keep mine on at night, just in case
of emergencies. It will still take messages for you, if your PC is turned off. But your phone will not ring
if PC is off. So, if your power goes out, you will not have it~

If you do decide to get it, when signing up pick the closest town near you on the list of towers available.
Will work much better. This is when you are picking your phone number

~hope this helps?

Most of the time we get a sketchy connection where you can only hear parts of words.

We're going to try the idea the other poster said about switching to port 2 and see if that helps.

Did you choose a town/tower nearest you when signing up and picking number?? I think that makes a huge
difference also.

Hope this helps

~Judy in MI~ Are you able to surf while talking????? I have to just get up and walk away from the
PC. Seems to work much better.

It was so frustrating I didn't renew when it came due. Some people don't seem to have a problem with the echo part though....it depends on the type of phone you have, the type of computer you have, even the type of phone service the other person has.

Can't beat $20 a year though, if you luck out and don't have problems. Very easy to set up too.

10|1|Kyle. You pay a fee of I think, unless it has gone up $9.95 for one year|driller|harj@frontier.com|13:08:43|12/24/2010|

But I paid for the five year. So won`t have to worry about phone for at least another five years. And seems
everything is going up. EVERYTHING

I think the five year was for $59.95 and now is up to >> $69.95

Sigh~~ When you buy , you should get the phone plus one free year for $39.99.

Hope this helps?

We have been using it for years. WARNING unplug during electrical storms. Ours has been zapped and had to replace twice out of pocket but still cheaper than paying the phone company. There are also settings too. The better the computer and internet speed the better the reception. It runs solely through your high speed internet so no need to worry about not being near towers, even when you use it driving down the road with 3g from your laptop. It does work better when I go to the next room. If you are sharing wireless anyone else using it will make your conversation breaky. There is also skype for $3 a month to use to call other phones or free from computer to computer. If you want incoming calls you can buy a number for $18 a year I think it was..... Also google came out with a phone thing and a free number. Signed up for it but haven't gotten around to doing anything with it. Its been months so probably next time I forget to unplug jack and he gets zapped I will be forced too! Or before renewal in March. I found them the cheapest at walmart though I have also seen them on ebay and listia which means they are probably on Amazon too. Bought one off Craigslist once too and my first one came from majic jack itself quite quickly too. Wouldn't go back to the phone company for nothing with all you get from magic jack for $1.66 a month! If you have someone far away from you you carte about but know there's not alot of money for communication it is also a good idea to choose a nj\umber in their area code if you aren't using it for your main phone and use cell phones or are just using it for long distance. Though realize you will be needing to make it a local number to have local people call without a toll.
