Hello all.....Tonya asked me to post...we were trying to trade the beginning of the month when her health thru her a curve.....
her first email after the trip to the hospital follows
sorry to be so late in getting back to you. been one of those weeks ya know
oncologist thinks the cancer has spread to my spine. (due to the pain and bowel incontinence issues) she sent me to er for medical emergency. we sat for hours waiting (this isnt local) finally had to leave to come home and get daughter from bus. so then dr calls makes me go to er here and wait some more. i did end up getting an 2 mri of the spine and a blown out vein from the tech. this coming week (tuesday) i get to start drinking barium at 8:30 am all the way up to 11:30 am then get a CAT scan, but at 10:15 have to get injected with a dye for the bone scan that is scheduled same day at 2, hoping they dont blow a vein. so another day spent at the hospital. oh and yeah she thinks i may be having heart problems on top of it from the adriamycin, she says when she listens my heart is very week and so sometime next week i get to be fitted for a monitor to wear for 2 weeks and then on Wednesday i get to go get blood work, see the oncologist again, and have physically therapy, my left side is so swollen, it hurts so bad. i refuse to take pain meds so i am not really a good patient. i just dont want to end up on my back in bed dying. if i am gonna die is gonna be on my feet, up and about doing what i want to do ya know. and i think that if i go on all sorts of drugs it'll be the end of me, i have seen it happen to way to many cancer patients and i am not going to be one of them. so i am a mess AGAIN. oh how i wish that my health was the only thing but when it rains it pours.
her follow up email brought better news to a point....
again sorry to be so late in getting back to you. got the results of all my scans back and so far the cancer has not progressed to the spine like the oncologist thought. but we did find out what was causing all the pain in my spine and back and side, i have somehow managed to fracture several places along my spine. now i didnt fall so couldnt have happened that way. she said chemo makes your bones weak (from reproducing the bone marrow all the time) and she thinks thats what happened so went for another scan last week (had 3 last week geesh, i was at the hospital more often than not) and we'll see what the density test shows on it. not sure what she is going to have me do in the meantime, she offered pain meds but i aint livin my life like that, i;d rather be in pain that be in a stupor ya know. after the test we went to walgreens because i swore that i saw some sort of mesh lumbar back support thingy there and of course i did but they dont have anymore. i was hoping to pick it up and it would maybe help i dont know, i just know i cant do meds. doc is still not sure what is going on with the bowel incontinence (since she was sure it was from cancer spreading) but they have me scheduled for a specialist in april. car is in the shop as well
Bottom line...prayers for her are definitely needed again...she is beating herself up because she feels she is failing at having Christmas the way it use to be.....I told her her family should just appreciate her being alive...I have asked her about me getting this lumbar support, just waiting to hear back....jodie 1|1|Jodie, thank you so much for sharing with us.....Tonya is in my prayers, and pls count on me to help in any way I can....if you dont find the back support, lmk, I may be able to get one through the therapy dept at work for her....and if you need help with the cost if you do find one, just shoot me an email. I was thinking of posting this anyway, so I guess it was meant to be. If anyone can send a card to her and her family. she has 2 girls (1 teen & 1 older).
