I don't bake often, but I'm baking treats for the office. I just made two boxes of brownies and dang it, they both burned. It was a 9 x 12 pan and it said 28 - 31 minutes. At about 20 minutes I started smelling something that wasn't right! Both are burned! Any other time I make brownies I have no trouble! So I have 2 boxes left that I can make!

They are dark/non stick pans. I sprayed them with bakers joy like I usually do and now this problem. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks! I'm planning on melting white chocolate to spread over the top, then I'm topping with crushed candy canes. So I need this to go right! Luckily my kids and there friends just came in claiming the burnt ones!

when using dark pans, and check them at shortest time listed.

3|3|If it happens again, you might want to use an oven thermometer to check the accuracy of your oven.....|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|18:02:45|12/20/2010|

So I just threw in another batch. My Peanut Butter Fudge is done, my brownies are getting there and then I have cookies to make! All tonight! I haven't made dinner yet either... so I guess I better start planning something

Laurie 5|2|Laurie, how badly burnt are the other batches? If they are only burnt on the edges, cut that away, crumble up the remaining brownies in a bowl, mix with some softened cream cheese and powdered sugar to make them into balls, chill for about 1 hour, then dip in melted chocolate.....brownie truffles! :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|18:43:08|12/20/2010|

might have to try that. The bottoms were burnt, but it kinda peels off! I put them in a ziplock bag for now and everything is put away. I made peanut butter fudge, brownies with white chocolate and candy cane pieces on top, regular chocolate brownies (plus two batches of burnt brownies -- apparently my speciality!) chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies. I'm tired! But I have 8 presents out of the way for work tommorrow, plus extra fudge for everyone else in the office..... and now I'm exhausted.
