7 0|0|Ebay seller question about negative feedback..............|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|21:11:22|12/09/2010|

I know that before, negative feedback could be left and the seller could only post a reply to the comment. Bu th then it changed somehow and the seller could have the negative feedback taken off. Can they still do that or has it changed again?

I purchased and item on Sunday and immediately sent payment (the auction stated it will ship 1 day after cleared payment) and my updated ebay emails stated it should have arrived today. when it didn't I emailed the seller asking for my tracking number and 5 minutes later got an email from stamps . com stating that my package will be shipped tomorrow! UGH! I am so mad I could SPIT! This seller has 100% positive feedback but I want it known that they failed to ship my item on time and failed to notify me in any way that the item would be late. Heck, they completely forgot about it until I emailed them! I want to leave negative feedback but won't if they can have it removed....... I'll leave neutral then.

So, if you happen to know please lmk. Thanks for the information and the vent.

is contact the seller about the delayed shipping. I usually state that I don't want to leave negative feedback without giving them a chance to respond. You never know what may happen- one time the lady refunded me the shipping charges for the item (she was REALLY late in mailing). Plus, I'd wait to leave feedback until I actually have the item in hand and can vouch for its condition. 3|1|As someone who sells a lot on ebay....|Julie|juliejulie1975@yahoo.com|22:08:07|12/09/2010|

Please do not leave negative feedback. It really is held against the seller. They loose discounts, top seller ratings, etc. They are getting really strict about this! Try to work it out with the seller. Ask what happened. You never know things happen. They could have been sick, etc. If the seller sells a lot of things, they could have misplaced your order. People really want to make you happy and make it right for the customer. If you get angry & leave negative feedback I can also guarantee you 100% they will not give you a discount, refund, etc. I just makes them mad. Leaving negative feedback should be saved for REALLY BAD experiences.

If negative feedback is left for someone they can appeal it and ask ebay to remove it. They give all the details about what happened. What you said, What they said, What you did and did not do, what they did and didn't do. Then ebay asks for more details from the buyer and seller and makes a final decision. If the item arrives in perfect condition and all you are complaining about is it was not shipped in one day, I am pretty sure they will remove it.

Try to remember what goes around comes around. You get more flies with sugar than vinegar. Tis the Season to be jolly. 4|2|As another ebay seller......|Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|22:38:57|12/09/2010|

Please please jackie do not leave negative feedback except as a last resort (or at least until you talk to the seller). As Julie said, they seriously hold it against the seller these days....just a couple of poor ratings and a small seller can be suspended permanently. The seller should have kept you updated and should have mailed promptly, but there are a lot of possible things that could have gone wrong (especially this time of year when sellers are busy and might easily overlook something).

Ebay will not remove a negative given to the seller unless the buyer has used vulgar language or tried to extort the seller in some way or if the buyer gets kicked off themselves....those are the only three ways that I know of that a seller can get feedback removed. A seller can ask the buyer to revise their feedback if they come to some agreement, but as far as I know, the ratings that go with the negative feedback stand....and those ratings are what gets a seller suspended.

5|3|It doesn't take much to get a seller suspended either...|jdlaurie|savethosepennies@aol.com|23:33:13|12/09/2010|

All you have to do is get lower Detailed Seller Ratings and your account can be suspended. I have 100% feedback and over 3800 feedback -- not even one negative or neutral. My account has been limited because 3 people marked that I shipped items later than they expected (during a long holiday weekend no less!). My rating is only a 4.7 instead of a 5.0 and I can't sell anything until next month. Which means I totally miss selling during Christmas! Bad Feedback and low detailed seller ratings are very harmful to a Ebay Seller. So please contact them before you leave feedback.

Thanks. 6|4|That's terrible Laurie! |Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|09:16:27|12/10/2010|

Doesn't ebay think before they institute these ridiculously stringent rules? Sometimes I don't think anyone at ebay has a conscience. I've seen long time sellers come to the boards there, people with thousands of feedback and generally great scores, who got suspended PERMANENTLY after a few low scores.

I'm sorry that happened to you during the busiest time of the year.

lauren 7|5|Thanks! I've been selling on that site for 8 years!|jdlaurie|savethosepennies@aol.com|21:13:20|12/10/2010|

Hard to believe that after 8 years they would do this! They said they won't review the account again until December 20th. But now I can only post so much a month. I have no idea how many months it will take to get my score back up! Or if I'll last that long. I hope I get to stay... I just picked up 5 Lilly Pulitzer Items to sell at a thrift store... not sure if they ever make it on ebay! My husband said I'm crazy to keep getting stuff with the uncertainty.

Oh... and to make it worse! I pay for a store! A store I'm not allowed to list in! UGH
