I just found out a little bit ago that he has a cancerous mass in his esophagus. :(
He went in on Weds. to have his esophagus stretched due to what we all thought was from a bad case of acid reflux (he's had terrible heartburn for a few yrs.). But the drs. couldn't perform the stretching cuz the camera they inserted into his esophagus discovered a mass so they biopsied it & set him up for a CT scan yesterday morning. The CT scan showed another mass, & the biopsy results from Weds. on the 1st mass had come in as positive for cancer. He sees a cancer dr. next week to find out what stage it's at & to determine what course of treatment, if any, will be started.
My bil is a good guy & I feel terrible for him cuz his dad just passed away in June. He also had cancer but passed away after suffering a stroke after heart surgery.
My sister is being a totally ignorant arse & seems to be more concerned about gloating over the fact that the dr. ordered my bil to quit smoking. UGH!! So.... My bil needs all the prayers he can get having to deal w/this major blow on top of being married to a witch.

And I forgot to mention, he has NO health care coverage either as he just started a new job a little over a month ago so hasn't been there long enough yet to qualify for health insurance thru the employer. I don't know if ANY insurance co. will even touch him now. :(

Hearing that yesterday definitely put a damper on my mood to put up Christmas stuff. :( But I feel like a creep & need to get over my own self cuz HE'S the one who has the cancer & has to deal w/SO much more on top of trying to get thru the holidays. Especially since we all knew the holidays this year would be difficult for him anyway after losing his dad. It was my bil's family tradition that EVERY Christmas, all my bil's siblings & the grandkids, etc. would sit on the floor in a circle around his dad as he read the Christmas Carol to all of them before opening gifts.
Please pray the cancer is in a stage early enough to be treatable.

The good news is the cancer has been determined to be in stage 2 so there's hope.
The not-so-good news is that he had a full-body scan & 2 more spots were found - 1 on his liver & 1 in his back - so w/the 2 in his esophagus, there are 4 spots that have been found. Praying there aren't any others that haven't been discovered yet.
One of my nieces lives in Florida & is married to a cancer dr. so he's been sent copies of my bil's medical records, kind of like a 2nd opinion. My niece's dh said not to waste any time w/beginning treatment. My bil is to begin treatment this week.
Please continue to keep my bil in your prayers as he goes thru the treatment & please pray it'll work to eliminate the cancer, for good.

I had stage 2, was the fight of my life, Dr. said I had a 50-50 chance, but I thought to myself, no way 50-50 I won't settle for that, with prayers and boy there were so many prayers, and the belief, your going to fight it, think positive, tell him to stay positive and have faith, That is so important.
