Hi all, I won a couple of FREE Purina dog food coupons from ebay and I have a "feeling" they are counterfeit. First of all they say, "Manufacturer Coupon" and not, "Manufacturer's Coupon". And in the write in the amount space it has, "(Up TP 49.49)". "TP" should be "to" and there's no dollar sign in front of the price. I've looked around for a list of counterfeit coupons but cannot find this on any list. Does anyone have a link to a more complete (current) list of counterfeit coupons? Thanks so much for the links. The one I have resembles a couple of them but the amount & expiration date are different. Surely these can't be real, though. Purina wouldn't put out a coupon with a typo on it, would they? They're not on the list - with this expiration date and amount, but has anyone ever seen a, "Manufacturer Coupon" and not a, "Manufacturer's Coupon". Well, heck. I was so caught up in the Manufacturer's Coupon missing an "S" I didn't realize it actually is missing the "R", too. So it reads, "Manufacture" coupon ... which, unfortunately, I think is exactly what happened ... someone did "Manufacture" this coupon ... ILLEGALLY! They have been a member since Jan of '09 but their feedback was private. I'm not really sure what what that means but I was reading and on ebay's website and it says if it's private that you can't see items on ebay? Not sure how they sold, then. Also, today there is one positive but it still shows a private setting? Just not real sure. Will post the outcome, though. 14|1|I tend to avoid ebay auctions for free coupons, unless I know there is a recent promotion, giving away the free coupons. Like the Free cottonelle wipe promotion. Another helpful hint, check there other items, usually if they are up tp no good, they have multiple listing for FREE coupons. NO one has that many. Sorry you got taken. Sellers are not allowed to have private feedback - that guy probably sold one or a few things and then set his feedback to private (maybe in anticipation of bad feedback?).
It's EXTREMELY easy to win a SNAD (Significantly Not as Described) case with ebay/paypal. All you have to do is file, explain why you want your money back, and they will tell you to either destroy the coupon or send it back to the seller (they are cracking down on counterfeits, so if you tell them that's why you want to return the item, they may just tell you to destroy the coupon). They tend to side with the buyers 99% of the time these days so there should be no problem getting your money back. You have like 30 or 45 days to file. And if you do file, VERY IMPORTANT - if you have to send back the coupon to the seller, send with delivery confirmation so you can prove you sent it back.
BTW, I looked at that coupon, and to me it doesn't look anything like all the other purina coupons out there. I personally would file the SNAD and recover your money before you get rejected at the grocery store.

That seller sold 16 of those coupons, so there may be a lot of people in line to get their money back (unless they don't catch on that they're counterfeit).
Like Donna said, I always check to see what else the person is selling or has sold recently. If they have multiple frees of things, to me that's a red flag. Another red flag is that they're a member since January 09 but suddenly started selling a bunch of frees. To me that means that the account may have been hijacked (hijackers look for dormant accounts that people won't notice activity on) or someone set up a bunch of id's a while ago in anticipation of burning through them ripping people off.
Even if that seller is in the wind now, paypal may pay your claim out of their "buyer protection plan"....but like I said, I wouldn't delay in filing.

Hi, I won two of your (2) Purina FREE coupons auction and just received the first two today. These coupons are absolutely counterfeit, though. I need a refund for the purchase amount for both auctions and shipping on both auctions. Your immediate attention to this is greatly appreciated.
If you received these coupons from someone else you should let them know right away that they are counterfeit coupons.

Oh my I am sorry. I did buy these from a lady out of TX. She said they were a promotion from the company. I had no idea they could be fake. I will refund your money no problem. I am going to contact that lady if I can. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
I have also contacted CIC and Purina. Just did that last night, though, so probably won't hear back from them until after Monday. Her reply doesn't ring true (that she bought them from someone in TX) but who's to say ...
