Peel potatoes and slice fairly thin..not too thick or they take forever to cook. Put a layer of potatoes in the bottom of in a 9x13 glass pan; get a handful of regular flour and shake it over the potatoes (will be the thickener)..then put slices of Velveeta cheese on top of that and..just dot the slices over the top..repeat this for next layer and also salt and pepper on top of the top layer..just a bit of each. Then pour milk into the glass dish about 1/2 way up the sides of the dish. You might want to put a cookie sheet under it as sometimes it will boil over. Cook in 350º oven about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Keep a close eye on it so the cheese doesn't burn.. top will be nice and light brown and potatoes soft/cooked. This thickens up nicely and is nice and cheesy. Often both my mom and myself will add little chunks of ham and makes a full meal that way. 6|2|I heat the milk in the microwave to speed things up|padrifter|candles@nb.net|18:44:02|11/23/2010|

Since I'm not QUITE fat enough I add as many calories as I can to my sauce for the scalloped potatoes ...

After I've boiled them (thinly sliced WITH the skins still on) I put them in my baking dish and add this over them:

1 tub of sour cream (I think it's a 8 ounce tub)
1 stick melted butter
1 8 oz package FINELY shredded cheddar cheese (I like the sharp)
salt
pepper
just a dash of garlic powder

mix that all up in a bowl and then pour over the potatoes. Bake and just before they're done I throw another handful of shredded cheese over them. Yummy! 7|2|You all ROCK! I think I can pull this off!|sunriver|sunriver@gmail.com|20:20:00|11/23/2010|

You do peel and slice potatoes thinly. Cook for 8 minutes and drain well/ Make a white sauce by melting 3 TBSP of butter, 3 TBSP of flour to make a rue. Add 1 to 1 1/2 cups milk bring to simmer until it begins to thicken, add 1/2 cups shredded chesse( use colby jack) and let cheese melt. Place 1/2 of potatoes in buttered pan. pour 1/2 of cheese mixture on top, add the rest of the potatoes and pour the rest of the cheesed mixture. If you like you can add a bread crumb mixture on top. Just melt 2 TBSP of butter and about 1/4 to 1/2 of bread crumbs mix well and place ontop of potatoes. IF you like a Kick in the potatoes add some spicey cheese to the bread crumb mixture. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes. YUM 10|1|this is how I make mine got this years ago from an old receipe book|flapper|joyphalen@yahoo.com|08:08:48|11/25/2010|

Peel potatoes, layer them in baking dish, put chopped onions on each slice and then but dabs of butter on each slice and sprinkle flour, salt & pepper and pour milk to cover them all. Do this for each layer. Then I add more milk if I think it needs it. Not much as the flour helps to thicken it. It's real yummy
Potatoes are raw when I put in dish. It comes out really good. But then I just found a new receipe which I'm trying today. This one calls for bacon and cheese, I never used cheese. Have to see how it comes out.
definetly going to try the one from flyvanguard, that sounds good too.
