It seems that this has been a trying year for many of us, be it issues w/our health, family, vehicles, household necessities, jobs, finances, etc.
It is understandably frustrating & frightening but I think most of us can agree that it can also be saddening & depressing, not only dealing w/our own woes but w/the helplessness many of us are sure to feel when we see/hear of others dealing w/so many woes as well.

W/the holidays upon us & this upcoming week being Thanksgiving, I thought it might help if we try & focus somewhat on what we do have to be thankful for. I've already been doing this myself for the last few weeks but decided to make a post listing some of the things I'm thankful for & hopefully snag some of you into participating. ;) It likely won't solve our problems or make them go away but maybe it'll help lighten the load a little bit to try & think of a few positives we do have going for us, kwim? :)

I am thankful for:

My faith in God who makes sure I'm never alone
My spontaneous son
My loving mom
My silly dog
My wonderful friends, online & offline
My warm home
My operable vehicle
My crazy computer
My comfy bed
My health not being worse
My view of the chubby wildlife
The sun when it shines
My cupboards & fridge/freezer stocked w/food
My good neighbors
My church/minister who is always forgiving of the times I don't attend
My achy teeth/bones that lmk when the weather is going to change
The rest of my family who are mostly nuts which makes me that much more thankful when I'm NOT around them
My empty bank acct. that tells me my bills are paid
My nail-bitten fingers which means I have good reading material
My scale that reminds me I'm obviously well fed. ;-p
My messy/dusty house which means I'm spending time w/those I care about & doing the things I enjoy most
My warm heating pad
My peace of mind & also, the little piece of mind I have left
My hearing aids which give me sound but also provide quiet when I turn them off & keep in as ear plugs
:)

What a great post!
I can add some stuff for sure:
I'm thankful for perspective. I have to wash about 3 huge sink full of dirty dishes each day, but I am so grateful that means we all have plenty to eat!
I'm glad that the same goes for the laundry.
I'm really thankful that we found this house and get to live in it. It is such a beautiful house with a lot of history in a great neighborhood. I hope that we'll get to live here for many years, but whatever is ahead for us, I am just glad that I got this time here.

I'm really thankful that all of my kids are healthy and happy.
I'm thankful that I can use coupons to live such an abundant life and that I know how to do that well.
I'm thankful that the rest of my family are all doing fairly well. There are a few of them with health problems and I worry about them, but right this minute everyone seems to be okay. That makes my heart happy!

I'm thankful for the RS community as it is such a supportive place and I think of so many of you as true friends. So much to be grateful for, but that is a start! V. 2|2|PJ says he is thankful for Pumpkins and Leaves. ;) I luv children!|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|16:28:17|11/20/2010|

I'm thankful for my home...we've been here 15 yrs next month, and we've taken a house we bought and made it into our own haven and oasis from the craziness of the world out there.

I'm thankful for my job....while the stress and chaos may give me great pains some days, I am fortunate to be doing something I love, for decent pay, and in a place that is better than all those I've worked at before.

I'm thankful for my husband...he was my Knight in Shining Armour 17 yrs ago, and still is.

I'm thankful for my sons...the teen years are proving to be challenging, but I am so proud of who they are and who they continue to evolve into.

I'm thankful for my dogs....the unconditional love and devotion they give cannot be measured....they make me laugh, they warm my heart, and make me feel loved and needed.

I'm thankful for the safety of my small town....it's a pain to have to drive 20 miles or more to get to decent shopping, or see a doctor, or any number of things that most people have in their own neighborhoods in the bigger cities....but I can sleep at night, and not worry about crime. And our small community is very strong, always coming together over tragedies.

I'm thankful for modern conveniences!! I was not built to be a pioneer woman, for sure...give me my microwave, my washer and dryer, my internet!

I'm thankful for my friends here at RS....the laughter and tears, raising our children together, the kindness we show each other....I wouldnt trade a single bit of it for anything in the world.

Wishing all my RS friends and family a Blessed Thanksgiving.....
Joy
