As most of you know my oldest daughter moved out several months ago and she is involved with a man who has a really bad past.
I've tried to talk some sense into her but its just pushing her further away from us - which is exactly what he wants I believe.
Anyway, she was robbed last week. By some of his friends - they let them in the house, she dozed off and when she awoke, she saw that they had been robbed.
They got everything, all of her personal info and cards and id and money, apt keys, my address - everything. The only thing taken of his was his truck keys.
I took her down to get a new temp id, canceled her bank card, notified all the places (couldnt believe ss office told me, well nothing we can do, I thought they issued a new card if yours was stoten, dont they realize that someone will be using it??)
She wants to put a hold on her mail too because they also stole her food and food card and she is now waiting on replacement but thinks they may come back and help themselves to her mail too.
So now they've moved over the weekend to another place of his picking - just as bad as the first place. New place does not even have a stove or fridge, someone spraypainted slumlord on the walls if that tells you anything, animal pee and poop everywhere
I am at my wits end, I know that we all were young once, I know we all make mistakes, and I know I taught her to never hold someone's past against them to judge them on how they are now BUT I seriously thought I raised her to be smarter than this.
I am so scared for her , I worry, I cry, I pray, only to do it all over again.

The more you try to talk sense into them the more they will pull away. Just be there when it's really needed, don't offer help unless you are asked, don't offer money, it's to easy, don't pay their bills, just be there. If she comes crying listen but don't offer advice, they don't hear it unless it's something they want to hear, just be there. Put it into God's hands & go to bed every night with this prayer, God I'm handing my precious child over to you, please protect them & help them. I trust that you will do what is right & I pray that whatever happens you give me the strength to accept. Give me the knowledge to know when to help & the knowledge to no when not. I've prayed it for years, with 6 kids & several making me crazy, it's gotten me through some of the roughest times. It's all you can do & the rest is up to God & her. If she was raised right it might take more time than you want but they usually come back to what they were raised to be. I'm here any time you need to talk, I've dealt with it all & I know what you are feeling & how you just want to cry & go to her & just drag her home. You can't & it won't work, just stay strong for yourself & let God have the rest.
