Been helping my son w/car repair costs - 1st, fixing the timing gears & replacing a cracked head that we initially thought/hoped was only a gasket leak. A month after getting it back, a bearing went out on the engine. Got a good used engine & wouldn't ya know it, there was a gasket leaking on it that also turned out to be cracked head on that one! Had to take the recently replaced head off the old engine & put it on the newer one. Got that all done & then the solenoid plug on the tranny started acting up & killing the car when it got hot. Fortunately, that was remedied by simply disconnecting that plug but it lowers the gas mileage a bit. This all w/in just a few months.
But, the car is now finally back on the road & running fine, which it better for the next umpteen years cuz I've had car puke sitting in my throat just waiting to erupt if anything more goes haywire.
Hope you can find a good used replacement engine or another vehicle that won't break the bank. ;)

Throw a rod means the engine blew. Being that my little love was 17yrs old just didn't make sense to replace the engine. I got a whole four hours sleep and off we went to get me a new to me used car. I got a 2006 Chevy Cobalt.
Though that's not what I paid. Amazing how gutsy I've gotten LOL
Well worth the price.

First I was having puddles of oil under my car....thank God the mechanic said that the oil filter was just loose. But then yesterday, I was sitting at a light and smoke started pouring out the wheel well and there was an awful stench. Looks like the caliper on my brakes is frozen or seized! :(
