Hard to believe that he's already 18. He's been a handful the past few years and very abusive verbally to us esp. Cheyenne. He's moved out and wants nothing to with us. He's living with his best friend's family. Oh well I guess it's for the best....*sighs* Rebekka

I just don't know where we went wrong, he claims he was always treated crappy, when in fact, everyone said we are great parents and not to beat ourselves up over this, because he is just being rebelious. His best friend's family is rich, and they give him anything and everything he wants when he visits, so that is why he moved in with them. We can't compete with the money, and I don't believe in buying my children's love. Even my ex-inlaws said we were fantastic parents and that the one to blame here is Matthew and how he treats everyone even his own grandparents crappy :(

You could be talking about my 19 yr. old. ;)
I know how difficult it is, especially the worrying, wanting him to be safe & not get hurt or screwed over.
My son keeps in touch so I'm grateful for that, but it's usually to lmk things aren't going so well, i.e. car trouble, money issues, roommate issues, etc. Things that make me worry more of course. :(
You wonder if they're eating right, keeping warm, getting enough sleep.....
I know alot of the rebellion is hormones & their need to feel "free", away from mommy's apron strings. And of course, they need to impress their friends w/how "smart" & "cool" they are. We can offer helpful suggestions but they see it as "controlling". I understand that they need to learn to do & figure things out on their own, independently, it but it still hurts when they lash out. :(
