6 0|0|VENT! Just when you think you might get ahead.....|jdlaurie|savethosepennies@aol.com|21:35:55|10/22/2010|

I finally pay off my daughters dental work, now I have to start making monthly payments for my sons surgery.... then the other doctor says maybe we'll start taking him off his meds... and you think, great things are getting so much better and maybe I'll finally save a few dollars so I'll no longer be in the hole! THEN... you go to another doctor and they tell you your son is allergic to everything in the world (well accept foods - so it really could be worse!)and he needs weekly allergy shots (4 of them per week given at the same time! he's extremely allergic to so many things they can't put them all in one dose to give him!)for the next 18 months!!!!! Oh... and insurance doesn't cover the full cost of the shots! They said they don't cover $10 - $15 per shot -they are checking with the insurance company! So that's potenially $40-$60 per week that I have to pay for those ($160-$240 per month!)... then there's the specialist co-pay every now and then! UGH! My husband said that at least we'll be buying less meds, that will help.. then I reminded him that you don't get a gift card for getting a shot! He said good point!

Oh and they prescribed a Epi-pen for my son! There's something to think about... like I really want to poke this thing into his leg because of a allergic reaction!

I know, I'm lucky enough that I have insurance... but a heck of a lot a good insurance does if you can't pay the co-pays and the 20% I'll owe for everything! I'm stretched as it is.... how the heck am I'm supposed to fit this in with everything else!

Oh and to top it all off... I'm a great saver, but horrible housekeeper. Since my son is allergic to everything of course he is allergic to dust mites (all kinds of mold, cats, dogs, cockroaches (why do they include this-- does everyone really have roaches? EEW!) , all trees, all kinds of grass, feathers, you name it!)! So basically, my entire house needs to be scrubbed down! There's dust on everything here! I have to vacuum the carpets at least twice a week, dust at least weekly now, change the sheets at least twice a week, buy covers for the beds and the pillows and that's just part of the list! There goes the down comforter! He can't be around it! I work full time and have two kids... I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now!

Oh... and the doctor looked at me and said that 2/3 off kids that have these types of allergies have 1 parent with allergies just as bad... he looked at me with my wonderful rings under my eyes and tired looking eyes, etc. and said I should be tested at some point... I'm sure I have horrible allergies, I can never breathe, under my eyes is always swollen and I have horrible rings under my eyes (just like my son)... I just never really thought it could be severe allergies causing it (denial). So maybe in 18 months after my son is done... I can have myself looked at! Because I can't afford to do both of us at the same time!

It's a good thing I can't afford to shop anymore... It means I'm just going to have a bunch of extra time to clean!

Thanks for letting me vent!

At least you do have ins. (I do not) I have high triglycerides (Has to do with Cholesterol) imean very high, so they put me on new meds which are $60 a month on top of the $100 a month I already pay for all my other meds, so now I have to go back to him every 3 months ($55) And have Triglyceride bloodwork done which is $95.. yuk.. Then I finally get a little money saved and my moms dryer goes, so I cant let her the winter with no dryer, we tried fixing it, but after $120 I figured we might as well buy her a new one as a new one was only $300. Thank god DH and I are the only ones exchanging gifts this year and none with family, because we simply can not afford it. I wish I had health ins. but with all my medical problems, especially being bi-polar no insurance company will approve me, tried them all.. just sucks!!! And DH's work doesnt offer spousal corverage :( Can't win for losing.. So I feel for ya sweetie, we never seem to get ahead, thank god we coupon or we would be up the creek with no paddle lol! Hope things get better soon! ~Hugs~

~~ You are the BEST!! ~~ 3|1|How overwhelming! Insurance is a pain, and it seems the more we pay for the premiums, the less they cover and make it more difficult to get approved for the specifics. Sending a hug and a prayer...hang in there, one day at a time! :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:57:46|10/23/2010|

the copays are killers. We have it through my husband's work. We are paying more
every month and then paying higher copays.
Hope things get better. 5|3|Thanks.... I need a break at some point.|jdlaurie|savethosepennies@aol.com|21:31:39|10/23/2010|

We are spending about $500 a month on medical bills/appointments/prescriptions right now... that's after insurance pays their part... now with more medical bills it's going to be higher. I don't know how I'm going to do it! I'm going to have to really buckle down and save everywhere I can. There is just a point where you can't save any more... and I might be about there!

I'm hoping things will be better by next year.
