Steven is doing so great after his surgery, he is like a different kid! So much so that his doctor is going to start taking him off of some of his medications a little bit at a time and see how he does! I have had several family members pull me aside and tell me that he just seems like a totally different kid and we have noticed it at home! He no longer gets really angry and throws stuff or hits, he takes the time to think through things... he's also started reading books! I mean long books with multiple chapters. I never could get him to read one page, he sits down and reads chapters at a time now! He's always had a comprehension problem when he reads, but the other night he was excited to tell me all about what was happening in the book he is ready (Peter Pan of all things!).
Who would have thought that having his tonsils and adnedoids out and getting the turbinates reduced so he could breathe when he sleeps would do so much good! It is clear that he suffered from sleep apnea.
He told us a week after the surgery that he could breathe for the first time! He has had a stuffy nose his entire life! Who knew! He didn't tell us and no one figured it out until just recently!
I'm totally amazed that so many of his problems seem to be correcting themselves after this. Keeping my fingers crossed that this continues!
We have a followup visit on Friday to see what became of the allergy testing. Will be great to know what is making the inside of his nose swell. The doctor said he's definately got allergies. Even if the tests say there aren't any... he says he 100% has allergies!
