I know this doesnt work for those of you who have children, but we just can't do it this year. I don;t feel like making cookies because I used to make them mostly for my grandfather (He raved to everyone about my cookies, it was sweet) and now he's gone so I just have no oomph to do it. We also arent exchanging gifts with anyone this year. We are just cash strapped too bad with helping my mom with her bills, and we had to buy her a dryer because hers went, so there went my savings. Anyone else not having a Christmas exchange this year? Yes I still will be putting up a tree and DH and I will exchange small gifts and we will have a Christmas Meal at my moms (Bought and made by me,) we are doing it there because my steps have no railing and she fell down them the last time she was here with her having the sight in only 1 eye. So now she is afraid to come over. OH what a lousy year it has been.. are things ever going to change for me? Sorry I'm whining now :( Hope everyone else is having an easier time this Xmas.

We did the first few years with the kids, but then decided it was really more for them. So we just don't buy each other stuff. Combination of things -- economics and first year with my son not at home. So what we will do is put what we would have spent toward our trip to go see him. LOL, as for the tree -- I've been stockpiling so much that the room I put the tree in, well, no room in the room!!!
I will get my joy this year from "adopting" a couple of kids at work through DCF and using some of my stockpiles to help fill some empty shelves at homes where the cupboards are bare. Hubby and I have even talked about helping serve dinner on Thanksgiving this year -- something I've always admired others for doing. I hope to help a few needy seniors this Christmas. They are often forgotten as many people help children. I have helped kids for many, many years, and I am due for a change. I find it disheartening that all but the youngest children nowadays, only want IPods, handheld and/or Video Games and all the latest techie stuff. my grandkids have everything and its hard to buy for them, I hate to just give them money, me and hubby quit a few years back we have everything to and if we need anything we usually just buy it,it would nice to just enjoy the holidays for a change Linda
