We are going to a friend's Halloweenparty next week (she does it early so those of us with kids can still do all our kid stuff on Halloween weekend).

I am thinking about going as a spiderweb (long black dress, silver webs painted on it, webs hanging from slevees, silver web streaks in my hair, etc)

How do we make my 6'2" hubby into a spider?

Thanks,

Marsha

Start out with a black sweats (or black pants and black shirt) and 2 pairs of black tights or thick nylons. Cut the legs off the tights and stuff each leg with Fiberfil (or you might be able to use newspaper or even packing peanuts). Stuff each leg until it is as long as the sleeves of the sweatshirt. If you can sew, you can make the spider legs using black material instead of black tights or I even thought about the swim noodles kids use...you might be able to pull the hose over them or spray them black. Then you could pull a piece of fish line through the noodles and tie one end to the wrist or attach it to the cuff on the sweatshirt and attach the other end to sweatshirt or pants depending on which leg it is.

No matter what you choose attach two legs on each side, spaced evenly below arm. You can simply pin them in place using safety pins or you can sew them on too.

Once the 'spider legs' are attached to the sweatshirt, use black thread or fishing line to tie the end of each arm together. Tie one end of the fishing line or black thread around the end of the bottom spider leg; tie the other end of the fishing line to the next leg, leaving about enough slack between the two legs so they hang freely. Finally, attach the second leg to the wrist of the person wearing the sweatshirt in the same fashion. the end effect will be that the two fake 'spider legs' will look like they are moving on their own when the person moves his or her hand.

For finishing touches you can wear a black stocking hat, paint your face black, and/or wear black mittens or gloves!

If he wanted to be extra scary you could add fake fang teeth.
