1|1|CYE :)|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|23:36:55|09/29/2010|I really hate to ask... because I hate to ask for favors... but my son is 8 and if you have followed any of my posts in the past, he's had a lot of issues with his ADHD and other conditions over the last 3-4 years and he's doing such a wonderful job this year getting all A's and really trying to work hard! Who would have guessed he could make such a big change over a summer! Well, now he's got to go in for Tonsil and Adnoid surgery (while under they are doing allergy testing as well because of the needles) on Tuesday. He's being so good about it, but I know he's going to be home miserable for a while! If anyone would please send him a card, I would really appreciate it. He loves to get mail and rarely gets any. I think it would put a smile on his face. He's being a really big boy about the whole thing so far. I'm hoping this time away from school doesn't affect him negatively since he's on such a roll this year.

He's having a hard time with it the last couple of days and has his behavioral therapy meeting tommorrow. We are going to work on putting his mind at ease a bit. His therapist is amazing with him!

He's having a bit more work done than we thought. He's going to have his tonsils and adenoids removed, a turbinate reduction, a nasal endoscopy and allergy testing all at the same time. Poor little guy. The doctor said he will definately be out for 2 weeks.
Thanks Rebekka -- your card arrived.. I put it away so he won't see it until tomorrow after the surgery. I'll give it to him when I check the mail as soon as we get home

I wonder if they will think I'm nuts. I brought my coupons to cut and sort while he's in surgery. I need something to keep me busy so I don't worry the entire time. He's being great so far. I gave him the DS game he picked up for after the surgery to give him something else to think about

We sat there forever, they were running at least 90 minutes late for everything. Our appointment was at 9:00 and we just got home.
The doctor said Steven's Tonsils and Adenoids were extremely bad. He said the Adenoids were extremely huge and infected and when he went to grab the tonsils they were huge and full of puss. Much worse than we all thought. He also had no room inside his nose, everything was really swollen and full of nasty stuff. They did the turbinate reduction in his nose and he said he definately suffers from some bad allergies. I won't know more about the allergy testing until his next appointment in 3 weeks.
Oh! And he has a deviated septum (Sp?)... but not bad enough to do anything to now. He said if it gives him a problem they wouldn't correct it until he's 17 or 18 years old. Good to know though.
So he's laying on the couch eating some baby food bananas that I had put in the fridge to get really cold. He said they are good and he's starved so I thought it might be more filling than ice pops. Although I'm sure he will hit those soon. They gave him an extra dose of pain meds because he's in a lot of pain... and that's helping alot.
