Newman tries to help out other users by bumping posts quite often---obviously no harm in that.
But the post which got bumped, probably by ACCIDENT---not design, was a "coming soon" post for upcoming auctions. Auctions which had already come and gone and been closed. It was not an actual auction that got bumped up--just an announcement originally made on Sept 3--and the first of those announced auctions began that same day and CLOSED on the 13th. The other of the announced auctions began on the 5th and ended on the 9th.
Honestly, it was a post that should not have been bumped since it was a dead issue and bumping it would serve no purpose nor help anyone.
THAT is what appears to have gotten wegogo upset. That it seemed to be a slap in the face just to push down other auctions (of which she has many going). She has never complained about other ONGOING auctions being bumped (that I have seen). I've been sick for the past 3-4 days and haven't been paying much attention.
Wegogo does have alot of time and runs her online auctions like a regular auction....if she doesn't get a bid, she adds more stuff. She's just not used to the slower pace of most online auctions. Plus, she's new with very little feedback which also leads to lower bids. BUT, she's willing to accept the lower bids---she knows she needs to grow her 'rep'. And, as a buyer of her largest auction, she does pack a beautiful box and should never be challenged to a Tetris game!
I realize anyone can bump ANY post they desire and we can also all scroll down past anything we don't want to read (two things we all need to remember).
It looks like it was just an error on Newman's part---thinking he was bumping AN AUCTION of long-time trader Robin(who often has a few going)...but instead hit upon an old announcement post and bumped without paying much attention. And wegogo taking it a bit personally that a "dead issue" post got bumped for no apparent reason. I mean...we could all bump old posts like the heated debates on healthcare reform--- but WHY would we? It's a dead issue and would only stir up aggression.
In general, we all need to watch what we post and bump---being sure it is timely and still pertinent....and we all need to grow a thicker skin and realize we're not all going to see eye to eye---EVER! And give each other the benefit of the doubt that not everything is meant as a personal attack. Bickering back and forth, name calling, and posting on different boards to draw attention to drama just makes the whole board look petty. (and I know I've done it myself when something hit close to home). And we all have friends here whom we'd defend to the ends of the earth---but this issue shouldn't come to that. I am ASSUMING it was an oversight, as Newman doesn't normally bump useless posts. So we've become feral, snarling cats over something that could've been solved with a simple---"Whoops---my bad. Bumped wrong post" or by simply ignoring the error and assuming it WAS an error, and not a personal attack.
It's a fun group of people and boards-----all designed to help EVERYONE get good deals. Let's remember that's the reason we're all here and get back to making our SIMILARITIES drive the boards and not our differences. Sorry to be so long winded----I just always stunk at short Memos!!! Anyone can join here. Anyone can respond to a post. You can't dictate when someone should have an opinion or not or when something should be over. The only time it is over is when a MOD removes a thread NOT when one person says it is over. I think it is called freedom of speech....
Unless you have it heavily filled with mods, which RS doesn't. If you don't like one board you can always find a better fit some where else. But you can't change the way things work just because you don't like something.
