Hello Everyone

I cannot print coupons from Smart Source anymore.... I finally contacted their webmaster, and someone responded that someone from this computer is copying coupons - it is NOT true.

Now the e-mail goes on to say that sometimes after a coupon is redeemed, retailers copy them in order to fraudulently submit additional coupons.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem with SmartSource? Have no idea how to "prove" that I am not copying coupons that I have printed. Never happened.

why would retailers do that. I think they should send a letter to the retailer where the coupon was used letting them know they submitted a copied coupon...this is terrible and doesnt seem fair at all! 2|2|Retailers|Momfisher|Momfisher@aol.com|15:27:32|09/12/2010|

I can see why retailers might copy coupons - more money for them....SmartSource said "many" retailers do this to create additional revenue. Obviously, illegal - and I seriously doubt that "many" retailers do this.

But because I redeemed the coupon and/or may have traded the coupon - and SmartSource can trace the original printing back to me - somehow that translates into I COPIED the coupon.

Definitely not fair - and I plan to protest as strongly as I can - but it doesn't seem that they are willing to listen at this point.

Judy 3|1|I've not had any issues with SS printables for some time....but especially not for that reason, and I hadnt heard anything about the things they wrote in the letter.....if it's possible and maybe even probable, that a store you redeemed the coupons at is the one making copies, then that is not fair to you!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:09:39|09/12/2010|

If you did and they got greedy, copied a bunch of them, then you will be the one who will be blamed for it, since it came from your computer. This is why how I do it to cover myself when I trade any IP Printed Coupons and it works. Prior to trading them, I record each and every coupon with the Embedded Pin number and if some one decides to make copies of them, I have a record of the person I traded them to. Then if something happens, I give the list to the proper agency and they will take the person away, not me.

A couple of times I have responded to pleas to print coupons for someone - but it seems if someone were going to that much trouble to get one or two coupons, they are not likely to copy them.

The e-mail from SmartSource also said that the coupons are handled by various people on their way to the clearing house - maybe employees of the store, or another agency, etc. decided to copy.

If I"m sharing IP coupons, Howard, your suggestion makes a lot of sense. But mostly I print for my own personal use.

But the bottom line - the original came from my computer. I'm not worried about some kind of legal prosecution - I did not copy any coupons...but definitely feel the sting of a wrongful accusation without being able to defend myself.
