24 0|0|Anyone have LG front load washer?|flyvanguard|flyvanguard@yahoo.com|13:17:53|09/01/2010|

hi all, does anyone have an LG (or any other brand) front load washer? noticed a slight odor last week and a couple of days ago the clothes that came out of the washer smelled like something ... well, i can't even think of anything that smells as bad as the laundry! did a search for lg - front load - odor - stinks , etc. on google and found out that this is not an uncommon problem. tried every suggestion that we found (draining the tube at the bottom, scrubbing out the detergent dispenser, pulling the front gasket out and cleaning under it, running on "tub wash" with just detergent, we even tried one that we hadn't read running on "tub wash" with detergent AND bleach - that one helped a little). after we did all that we ran the clothes through again ... the smell is back in the washer and NOT out of the clothes.

took to laundromat and put a capful of pinesol in with detergent and the clothes STILL stink. any ideas ... on the clothes and on the washer?

please help ... I STINK ... LITERALLY!

get the cheap kind white would probably be best put a couple of cups in rinse.my aunt use to buy a gallon once a year and run it Thur the cycle said it kept the hoses cleaned out. it will take urine smell out so should work, what the other lady was thinking about was 20 mule team borax hth Linda 4|3|This did not help me at all. I even bought detergent to wash my washer with, a few kinds, and neither helped. It is very stubborn. The smell is more from the rubber on the outside then the actual washer bin.|RobinsCrazyWorld|robinmarie72@gmail.com|14:22:43|09/01/2010|

3|1|I have a 1 yr old set of LG and have the same issues. I know I was told to make sure and leave the washer door open to let it dry out or I would get the smell. Well I didn't, and now I have the smell. My clothing does not stink, but the washer does. All I can do now is leave it open and clean the rubber part often until I getthe smell to go away.|RobinsCrazyWorld|robinmarie72@gmail.com|14:21:20|09/01/2010|

7|1|I don't have one, but I have a regular top load machine and have the smell in my washer, I've always left the lid open and still get the stinky smell, our clothes don't smell, but when I lean in toward the washer, it stinks. I usually have to wash it out once a week with detergent alone and then with vinegar, but after a few days, we are back to the stinky washer again :(|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|14:33:13|09/01/2010|

have this same smell problem. It doesn't get on the clothes, though. I haven't bought the washer cleaner stuff yet because I just figured it wouldn't work (and it doesn't, so I see with everyone's posts). I am going to try the vinegar today.

I also see mold-like on the rubber seal around the door. Just going to take bleach to that.

I should have stuck to the good old fashioned washing machine. Never any issues with it.

http://www.refundsweepers.com/dcforum/feedback/1021.html 11|2|Honestly, I don't think it will work. I am beginning to think (after months of trying different things) it just needs to be left open like the manifactures. Even if I did get he smell out it will just come back if I keep the door shut all the time. It need to be allowed to air out and dry completely as often as it can.|RobinsCrazyWorld|robinmarie72@gmail.com|15:12:45|09/01/2010|

thanks ladies for all the posts. i am going, right this minute, to rewash the load of clothes with vinegar and will post after the washer shuts off. s 16|2|Make sure to smell the clothing AWAY from the washer, not standing right next to it... The washer smell may come through and you may think it is the clothing and not the washer. I know it does for me. My washer & dryer are in the basement so leaving the door open on the washer isn't in the way of anything. But I also make sure to leave open the little door where I put the soap, etc.
My son has forgotten his clothes in the washer on occasion & it reeked awful when I opened the door & found the damp clothes still sitting in there. I honestly thought it was from his socks! LOL He doesn't un-bunch them before washing so I figured they simply didn't get a good washing & being left to sit just exacerbated the rot. ROFL!
But yea, I always leave the door open. No funky smells. :)

Our washer doesn't smell, but if we leave the clothes in it for any amount of time the clothes will stink and need to be re-washed. My husband thought I was crazy at first. Now we only do laundry when we know we can remove it quickly. We also leave the washer open after using it, just out of habit. No problems now. My thoughts are that the clothes smell because there is so little water in the clothes that they dry quickly and get musty smelling quickly.

Never had the smell linger in the machine though.

Laurie 20|3|Geez, after reading all this stuff here, I think I'll stick with a top loader.....never have trouble with odors as long as I dont leave laundry in there overnight or something....I use vinegar in every wash load though too. 21|4|I liked the idea od beingable to use the tp of the front loader to store my laundry supiles, and I do like my front loader in general, but I am not sure what I would do if I was having to buy one again. |RobinsCrazyWorld|robinmarie72@gmail.com|18:10:10|09/01/2010|

I had problems with our new dishwasher when we moved in. Had Sears out a few times, nothing was wrong with the machine.
It was explained to me a few times that with most of these energy saving/better for the enviroment products you end up sacrificing something to get the things that are "better"..... Heck I want something that works GREAT! I don't care if my power bill is $20 more a month.

If I had an actual laundry room that no one saw I wouldn't care about leaving my washer open all the time... But my laundry area is in the kitchen/dining area just separated by double folding doors.

well, that load finished and went into the dryer. the musty (or whatever that gross smell was) smell isn't as bad. yesterday when i washed them and put them in the dryer you could actually smell the odor of the clothes out back where the dryer vents out. they were definitely better after the vinegar wash but they still don't have that nice just laundered scent to them. s 23|2|You could try adding some baking soda too. :)|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|18:55:17|09/01/2010|

Baking soda is a good odor absorber & like the vinegar, will also help soften the clothes. :)
