We're looking all over for a 3 bedroom place and there was one that I completely fell in love with. It was rural and our neighbors would have been cows and goats! Just completely perfect! There was no phone number which is sort of odd, but I emailed thinking they would call us. Didn't get a call, but I did get an email from someone in South Africa who wants to rent it to me once we work out payment arrangements and oh by the way, they have the keys with them in S. Africa.
I am trying to figure out if I am more angry or disappointed. It might be a tie. I wish this whole moving thing was easier. So far it all seems to be kicking my behind!

& pretending it's their house. They got caught here in MN when the realtor was also being contacted by the same couple as were the people posing as the owners.

5|1|Vanessa, believe it or not, this is quite common. It happened to my daughter( she quickly figured out it was a scam and reported it, but LOVED the house) earlier this year and when she contacted Craigslist they told her it was very common and to beware. We saw the ad on craigslist one of those almost to real to be true type of things, but we emailed the man and he gave us this long story about how his job had moved him to south africa, and he was renting his house here in va, sent us his phone number, contact info,etc etc etc, told us we could go buy and look at the house from the outside blah blah blah and he was renting this huge house for soo cheap because he was not around to help with maintenance, this guy really had his story straight, we just needed to send him a deposit and he would send us the keys and we could tour the house at our convenience and let him know if we wanted to rent or not and if we decided not to he would refund our deposit, but it was just too good to be true, be talked about it for a few days amongst ourselves and decided we couldnt just send this man this much money just for a key and I am glad we didnt because like a week later he had a different house listed same deal
yes the houses are usually for sale or rent just glad we decided this was a scam and i know how disappointed you were because my sister and i have been in your shoes, just glad you didnt send any money, we would of lost our money and had no place to live because the money we would of sent him paid for a security deposit on another house
please be careful on craigslist, i think everyone should be honest and nice like me but i have been had a few times on craigslist, i have gotten some good deals and have sold stuff but have been taken a few times

When me and my bf were looking for a house we saw several on cragslist and contacted, i had one from afhganastan stating they were stationed over there and needed someone to rent there house and to send them money etc etc etc for the key, also africa and there was one other place i cant remember. Anyone that replied or i emailed and wanted info etc i just deleted. If it sounds to good to be true, it is!!! lol.. We found our house by driving around every weekend and looking for for rent signs, your house is out there, dont give up.
