Earlier today, my son downloaded Google Chrome browser onto my computer, which he was NOT supposed to do & was to uninstall it. He didn't so I did. Because he's been using my computer off & on, I updated & ran Spybot. It couldn't remove the stupid CouponBar but I re-booted my computer anyway. Got an update notice for Adobe Flash so installed it. Then I tried to update & run Adaware. Got an error so I closed that out & went to uninstall it via Add/Remove, figuring I'd try installing anew. Wouldn't finish uninstalling so I stopped it. When I closed that out, I had a pop-up called Microsoft Silverlight. Never heard of it so tried uninstalling that too vial Add/Remove. Wouldn't finish so I stopped it. My pc has been very slow since & I've gotten a couple of "low virtual memory" notices. Something is obviously sucking the memory but I don't know what it could be. It wouldn't let me boot up in Safe Mode, only gave me the option for Process 1. I Restored back to yesterday morning & have run CCleaner & am now running Malwarebytes' Quick Scan except it's not being so quick this time. It's so far found no infected objects but it's not quite done, taking alot longer than the usual 10 min. I think my son may have picked up a virus or some nasty spyware. Gotta wait til Mon. to take it in. Grrrr! The boy is going to pay this bill!!

My pc is running SOOO slow I don't know if I dare try to download anything lest it take all day. My AVG is set to scan my pc everynight at 11 & it was still scanning when I woke up this morning (it normally takes about an hour & a 1/2). :( And last night when I ran the Malwarebytes Quick Scan, it took over an hour vs the 10-15 min. it usually takes.
This is going to drive me nuts til Mon. LOL

I ran the ESET scan on Sat. & it took 12 & 1/2 hours! LOL But no infections, so that's possibly good news. Yesterday I ran Defrag & that took 9 hours. I'm assuming the lengthy amount of time on each is due to whatever issue is going on w/my computer as it's still slower than heck, & seems to hesitate/freeze for a couple of seconds everytime I click on a web page, etc. before it finally finishes loading the page. I'll be taking it to my techie a little later this morning & will hopefully get it back at the end of the day, & not be in too much debt. LOL
I wanted to run ScanDisk to find/fix any errors that may be on my hard drive but it requires a reboot to begin ScanDisk & my computer isn't cooperating too well w/reboots or shut-downs either. Hoping it's nothing major other than maybe some sneaky, nasty spyware or a corrupted file......

I'm pretty computer savvy when it comes to maintenance, virus/spyware removal, etc. but this one has me stumped, & frustrated. LOL

I've pretty much tried everything I dare mess w/on my own, but if my files, etc. need to be saved, my techie is better equipped/more knowledgeable to do that if a Windows re-install is necessary or there's a problem w/my hard drive or registry.
I managed to get into Safe Mode just far enough to make a selection but was only given the option of Profile 1 to choose, & it didn't change anything as was the case w/the Restore. :(
