Does anyone happen to know if we can do this just by DH and I signing something or does my DD have to come with us? and he wassn't able to be there when we were so we signed our part and then he stopped in after work that day or next day
but live in sorta small town u can call and ask your bank vickie

Went to HSBC today to find out if DD had to accompany us to the bank to add her name to our accounts.
I was very upset to find out that there can only be two people on an HSBC account (the rep told us that that rule is standard for all banks, but I intend to check that out!).

I'm sure it's not something they do daily, because they don't open a lot of accounts each day and when they do there are usually only 2 people that open the account, but I've seen clients with bank accounts that list both of their names and their adult childs. If your child in a minor they wouldn't be able to add them... but a joint account can have 3 adult parties.
I work for a brokerage firm and we have clients that also have checking on their accounts and those checking accounts are held at a bank! We certainly have clients with 3 joint parties and checkwriting. So I know it can be done.
Maybe you didn't ask the right person? Try talking with a supervisor or branch manager.
