21 0|0|Senate Bill S510 Makes it illegal to Grow, Share, Trade or Sell Homegrown Food|Sharon|corvettelady@lavabit.com|14:10:38|08/13/2010|

For your info. This is so evil, using food as a weapon to control the populace. I know this is nothing new as it's happened many times in History. If this passes, you cannot grow food on your own property! This is unconstitutional. Imagine the chaos. Our govt is so criminal, evil & out of control. Pass this along to everyone to get informed. God help us all through this madness.

I have been scared of this bill for some time now... the question is how do WE, as a people, stop it from passing? Any clue?

websites for your information other than the ultra-right infowars.com and Prison Planet? Seriously, these nutball websites with their conspiracy theories don't serve any valid purpose other than to scare people and incite panic. This bill S510 would never get passed in the Senate, let alone in both Houses of Congress. Nutball Congressmen and Senators are always proposing ridiculour bills and trying to attach them to other bills.

If some sort of draconian bill was to be passed such as S510, don't you think that the media would be all over it...alerting the public? And how about progressive organizations and magazines like Heifer International, Mother Jones, Utne Reader, Countrytime, GRIT, etc.? These magazines would all be up in arms and warning the good folks of something so insidious.

And just how do you think the government would enforce such a ban on food/seeds? There is no way it could be done. Most everyone living in rural and suburban areas have gardens of some sort and sell their foods. Thousands upon thousands of farmers markets sell and barter for food and seeds. And you think the War on Drugs is a failure...well, trying to ban homegrown foods and gardens and the buying/selling/trading of organic foodstuffs would be next to impossible!

This is just another nutball "bill" that will never see the light of day.

(oh, and watch out for those black helicopters hovering over your garden at night).

They are passing all sorts of stuff with no idea how to pay for it or how to enforce it.

It applies to companies. Food producers who sell things, not private gardens, you guys! Take a deep breath y'all, this is for food producers who actually sell things in the mass market, not Joe everyman who has a simple garden he uses for his personal consumption. 10|2|It does pertain to personal gardens if you give away or sell the food you produce in it to others. hth|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|20:36:08|08/15/2010|

Granted, you are correct in that the bill HAS been amended and no longer disallows people to have home gardens. WHEW! However, in the present amended bill I still can NOT give my neighbor anything I grow from my garden NOR sell anything I can/preserve from my garden either without having to have my goods inspected by certain government agencies.

They want to cut out anyone who is possibly going to buy from the local farmer instead of the major BIG chain stores.

This is just another way for them to control where you have to buy!!!!!!! Whenever possible I always buy locally.

Only way to go and is still my choice. At least I will not have a recall on what I am buying!!!!!! Including meat!!

If you know anyone who is certified organic, it is terrible what they have to go through just to get their certification
and what they have to cope with each year just to say they are organic. But with this certification, it does not mean
you have to be 100%, so is very mis leading when I do see organic label in the store. You have to do alot of research
to actually find out what percent is actually is. Like asking where they are located, what are their growing practices,
etc!!! I know alot of people don`t really care about this, but is real. And is only going to get worse as the years
go by.

If you really want to watch a documentary go to hulu.com and watch the >>>> future of food That is just one major
corporation which is trying to buy all the patients on all the seeds in the world, which Canada has already outlawed
Monsantos corporation there. Watch and then decide for yourself. This Monsantos is taking peoples propertys away from
them. Claiming they have stolen the seeds, which in fact, they had a spill of seeds which cross pollinated onto this
other property.

Just my imput on this. Always the huge, bigger companies are trying to take up all the little ones............ SIGH

I also buy organic foods, including grass-fed growth hormone/antibiotic-free meats, and support local farmers/co-ops. Now that I live in NH, buy raw milk, the best I've ever tasted. I've also watched Future of Food video. I've read health articles on how factory-farmed animals are treated, fed, given antibiotics even if they're healthy + more in slaughterhouses that are not safe for humans to eat. In this link, Dr. Mercola interviews Dr. Chopra including one section describing factory farming conditions and practices enough to send chills down your spine and question what's really in the food you eat every day.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/08/14/chopra-interview-july-2010.aspx

Our govt. does not want us to buy organic foods, but chemically processed/sugar-laden foods so people will eventually become diseased, develop cancer, overweight, sickly, etc., then go to doctors for pharmaceutical drugs. All for greed and profit. As far as I'm concerned out govt. is not looking out for us and is run by criminal thugs. Some of you say no way can out govt. do this to us, well I got news for you, they can do whatever they want because they can!!! So many laws have been passed in secret that we don't even know about and our MSM is controlled by the elites, so the public is kept in the dark. Monsanto is an evil company forcing many farmers to buy their GMO seeds or put them out of business if they don't comply. This is also reason why the global elites have their own Seed Vault - http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7529

Also Codex Alimentarius - http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?page_id=155

Our govt is in bed with the big multinational/pharmaceutical corporations and their primary intent is to increase their profits not to serve the public health.

I buy whenever possible all of my food from local farmers. Even though they are not certified organic they practice it, and care
about their animals and fruits and veggies. Even down to the meats and milk, cream & eggs.

There is alot that has been going on with the growing practices the last few years, you just haven`t been hearing about it. But if
you do your research you will find more & more about this , and what they (the government) hide. So much that is going on that we
don`t know or just don`t care to see or overlook.

I care where my food comes from, plus how it is grown. I know probably alot of you don`t? After all it is easier to just buy at
the major chains or whereever!!

We raise registered Angus cattle and if anybody tells you that their beef has never had any vaccination, antiobiotics, etc. they are not telling you the truth. When our babies are growing up, we HAVE to give them shots to prevent many diseases - just the same as you have to do for your human babies. Otherwise there would be no beef to eat - PERIOD. If you have ever seen an animal wither and die of some disease that was preventable with a shot, then you will make sure that they have all of the shots, worming, etc. that they need.

Right now there is an average of 30-35 major food recalls each month and they are all preventable.
Approximately 76 million Americans wind up in the hospital or ER with foodborne illness each year and many people do not walk out. I write about food recalls on a regular basis.

The FDA has virtually no power even over large corporations. They can't force recalls. They can ask companies to voluntarily recall products that are likely contaminated with various things, but there is no such thing as a mandatory food recall here in the USA. Formula companies are held to different standards because of previous legislation.

Considering that those 76 million Americans getting sick probably affects what 4-5 people directly (on average, considering spouses, children, bosses), that's a whole lot of people affected by this! Getting a food safety bill passed that protects all consumers is completely necessary.
