for those of you not familiar with her name or the church name ... she and her husband are the leaders of a church out of topeka, ks, who actually go to funerals of our fallen soldiers and protest. not just quietly, which would be bad enough, but they actually carry signs that have the words "God" and "hate" in the same sentence. my God isn't like that!
if anyone else thinks this lady (and the entire congregation!) is as crazy as i do you may want to listen on saturday morning (august 14th) at 10 am central time. she will be on the Blog Talk Radio Hour. you can call in with questions and/or comments to 646-727-3170. i'm not sure right now how to tune in on the radio but if you call the number you can request that the operator put you in "listen mode" and you can hear the whole show. i'm going to do some research and find out what station on the radio, though, and will post that update later.
here's a website on the wbc - i have a son who is currently serving his 2nd tour of duty in iraq. this most recent one, he deployed when his first born (a daughter) was 5 weeks and a day old ... so it's obvious how i feel about this "church". however, even if i didn't personally know anyone in the military i have a very strong sense of what is right and what is wrong and the tactics these people use are just wrong. having said that ... the site i'm posting is definitely slanted towards my way of thinking so if you are a wbc follower, clicking on this link will just make you angry.

On the other hand, my Dad is part of the Honor Gaurd and they go to as many of the soldiers/military funerals as possible and block this group from the families, so they dont see them, they also escort them from the church to the gravesite to insure that the family is as well protected as possible. They do this by using their motorcycles and American flags, both on their bikes as well as standing in front of this nasty group blockin them from view. I never have, and will never, understand how someone can take God's words and twist them so badly. Im glad they wont be on there spewin more hate. :)

the families of fallen soldiers definitely do deserve a measure of peace and do NOT deserve to have these "christians" holding signs in their faces about God HATING soldiers (and gays but that's not what this post was about). it is a sad thing that these zealots are presenting themselves as christian people. the protests they do and the signs the hold up are not things good loving christians would do!
