Had my house re-sided & re-shingled a year ago this past March/April and I was VERY clear with the contractor that I wanted it vermit proofed (bats, mice, whatever) he said yep, yep, yep, he said that a vented rigid cap would eliminate any chance for bats so I said ok it would be worth the extra $80, I told them I wanted the screens in the bath & kitchen vent fans that are left on the roof, yep we ALWAYS do. Well in May, when job was done, when I turned on my vent fan above my stove I heard like metal being tossed around in it so I took out the filter screen & here was nails from the shingle job in it so in August I struggled to get up on my roof & checked those vent fans & no screens so I had to do it. Well 2 weeks ago while my daughter was brushing her teeth in the morning she said "Mom I think something is in the bathroom fan" so I listened & said maybe it's the flapper,it flaps when it's windy, well guess what low & behold there was a bat in it so today I called a bat exterminator. He examined the whole outside & inside, made the corrections/repairs & removed the dead bat in the fan. Yes hopefully it's all good (it is warrantied for 1 yr) BUT the bill was $400 :o(
How in the heck can a person make up that $400....

1|1|Do you still have the estimate and final bill with the work description from the roofing/siding contractor? If it says in there all the things you specified were done, and they were not, I'd say that was illegal of him to do that.
