hi all, this thursday we are having a hot wing and french fry fund raiser for a young man who has leukemia. a pampered chef consultant has kindly offered to set up the night of the fund raiser and donate a percentage of her profits to the family. i'm going to post info on the pampered chef and if anyone needs any please consider buying thru this site so that some of the money will go to the family.
the story ~
in late 2008 a young recent high school graduate, coty hylton, wasn't feeling well. it was around thanksgiving and he had a couple of different diagnosis ... first just the flu, then a kidney infection, then maybe a hernia. the day after thanksgiving he was diagnosed with lymphoma (sp?). the first prognosis was that he only had 3 weeks to live. he underwent very aggressive chemo - even having a shunt put into his skull so that chemo could go directly to the brain. his kidneys shut down two different times from the ravages of chemo. to make that story short ... after his chemo a PET scan showed NO cancer cells in his body.
flash forward to this spring. he was out cutting the grass and came in with a rash that he didn't think anything of. it didn't go away and got uncomfortable. he went to his family doctor who did some tests and told him to get to his oncologist right away. he was then diagnosed with leukemia.
this young man is only 20 now and has gone thru more than many of us will have to endure in a life time!
dkms came to town and did a donor sign up and they have a match. a 53 year old female from somewhere in the state of missouri. she went to ku (kansas university hospital in kansas city) last week and matched 9 of the 10 criteria. subsequent testing has shown that she is a perfect match ~ praise God!
now coty is having a marrow transplant and the family could certainly use the funds for doctor bills, missed work, other bills that are stacking up from missed work time, etc (cancer bills go ON AND ON!).

WOW all, pray for cool winds for our fund raiser tonight. it's inside but we're cooking the wings (all TWO HUNDRED POUNDS of them) in big turkey friers so we're doing them outside and the temp (WITHOUT the heat index) is suppose to be over 100 ~ OUCH!
pray that the fund raiser brings in lots of people to donate to coty hylton's family and please pray for healing within that family ~
