We have several old monitars and computer we just dont know where or how to disposal of them
Our local trash co. willnott take them
any suggestion? also do we pay for it to?

I had a Dell and the hard drive corrupted or crashed. They sent me a new one. I asked them how to make sure all my info was gone off of it and they told me to freeze it in the freezer. So, I did.... You might want to google this and check it out......

If you leave a computer in the car during the winter and it freezes, it is just recommended that you let the computer reach room temperature before starting. So... if you can start it up after being in a car overnight, I don't see how freezing the hard drive will work.
Basically, unless your wipe it out per Dept of Defense guidelines which is a 7-pass process, than your data is still available. I have opened up the casing, taken the actual drive out and snipped it with gardening snips. People are weird -- you don't want your info getting into the wrong hands.

My suggestion would be to donate the Old Monitor, if it still runs okay. The computer, Please REMOVE the Hard Drive and take it apart, as there are specific hex keys to remove the screws. Then once you get to the inner portion of the Hard Drive destroy it with a Sledge or Heavy Duty Hammer, so NO ONE can get at your data. Then toss the Hard Drive in the trash, but make sure it is totally destroyed.
