we have went many times, and this last time we did a special and basically the meals were free on the plan. We loved it. My son who is 9 i had him on the adult plan just because he would still be hungry with the kid plans. But they way ours worked you got points. We had so many points at the end, we actually ended up taking friends to dinner and had it charged to the plan too. You get so many meals and snack points so one day you could do a character breakfast and then have 4 snacks. It is based on the people going and how many days your there. Food is not cheap there so it worked for us- plus you can do counter service for a sit down if you want. You can not exchange counter for table. So for us the table service meal was the way to go.

We did the meal plan. If you plan to eat at the nicer restaurants, it is so worth it. For us, a family of 4 (two kids under 10), we were looking at $40+ per meal at just a quick serve restaurant to get what we wanted. We ended up doing some buffets because of some food allergies for me and also because they want kids to eat off the kids menu - and dang, a kid can only eat just so many nuggets!

HIGHLY recommend: booking the princess breakfast buffet at Magic Kingdom for the earliest time. You all need to be together to get seated (no running ahead and getting your name put in....) and you eat just before the park opens. By the time you are done, the park is just opening. It is nice to see the castle without the throng of people. They have you queue up at a separate gate to get in :)

Disney is VERY acccommodating if your dates don't line up with their dates. The worst they can say is no. So if they do, why not ask for a 50% discount??? You have nothing to lose!!!

Disney wants to keep their facilities full and are known to help people get there.
