Not sure the whole story yet, but my grandma is 82 years old and for the last several monthes has had severe diahreah (sp?) and went from very active to not active at all. Grandpa had her admitted yesterday and they found out she was 3 pints of blood low. Earlier this evening my brother called to say Dad had left to head to Arkansas and that they found an anyurism (sp??) that if they operated on, it might kill or, or if they didnt, it might kill her. But I heard from my cousin that she has a fast growing tumor in her lower abdomen, that they gave her two units of blood overnight but she started passing that in her stool today. IF she makes it through this surgery she will have many more surgerys to go. Either way its not looking good. I know how caring everyone is here so I would ask that ya'll send up a prayer for my grandma. Thanks.

The surgeon cleaned out an infection in her colon due to an abcess and left her semi-open in case they have to go in again. They also took some tissue to do a test to see if it is cancer. She will be in ICU until?
Sad to say, Im not very close with my Grandparents. We were raised diffrently, aka not Mormon, and have been pretty much ignored because of it. I havent seen or spoken to them in over 12 years, since I went for my cousins wedding. Ive sent Christmas cards and pictures of my daughter but I have never heard back from them. Im more upset because of how this is affecting my Dad instead of how it is affecting me.

Just talked to Dad, Grandma is still in ICU. They found a tumor around her rectum and did a biopsy on it, still waiting on results. Shes lost around 30-40 pounds and will be going into surgery again tomorrow at 11:30. They are going in to do more cleaning out and look for anything else while they are in there. They are afraid that the more surgeries she has the weaker she will become so they discussed with Grandpa and the rest of the family there today and it was decided to go DNR. My Dad is scheduled to come down here next Weds so he can drive back up to KS with my daughter and me, we plan on stoppin in Arkansas to see everyone, just hoppin we get there so my daughter can meet her great grandma before its too late.

They found that Grandma has colorectal cancer and it caused a tear in her colon which allowed sepage which then caused the infection and caused gangrene. They will be doing another surgery soon to put in a colonostomy bag (I think thats what its called) and will stay on the DNR list. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and your prayers!!
