Diapers.
How many newborn diapers do I need? I know the size of the baby will make a difference here.
I have 5 35 packs of Huggies newborn diapers (Was getting them for $4.49 a pack, reg $8.99)
I also have a few packs of size 1 huggies and know I will need a lot more.

Wipes.
I have 19 full sized packs & know I will need more...

Bedding.
I have a new washer & dryer and will be a full time mom. Laundry wont be much of an issue, but I don't want to be caught too short...
Crib sheets? I am thinking 4 would be good? 2 in wash, 1 on crib and one waiting just in case...
Mattress protector? 4 like above?
Receiving blankets?
Do I need more then one bumper pad?

Clothing:
I have about 10 newborn outfits. Mainly gowns. I am sure I will get some from friends right after we know what the sex is.

Odds:
Bottles? I am going to try and breast feed.

What else am I going to need the first month?

Diapers, you have enough newborn (my son was too big for newborn after the first week). All babies are "shaped" a little different for diapers, so some brands may not be great in one size but be wonderful in another size or a few weeks of growth later. We used Pampers Swaddlers when he first went to a new size, then to Huggies, then to the green Pampers then to the next size.

If you are going to breastfeed, you want a Bobby pillow and the cream for your nipples (Mederma??).

We had a wipe warmer. We didn't plan to use it at first but those 2 a.m. diaper changes, a wet cold wipe hitting his toushy woke him up completely and it would take awhile to get him settled back down to sleep so we warmed the wipes to stop that problem.

4 crib sheets/mattress covers should be fine.

If you are going to nurse, that sucker is amazing. I had a freezer full of milk for dh when he needed to watch the baby... It was also great for when my milk came in to ease the engorgement (sp?)

It sounds like you are getting ready! Remember too that you can most likely exchange any extra diapers for the next size up, so if baby is bigger quickly you can do that at most stores.

Baby shampoo and a baby tub? Some tiny baby washrags?
Other than that I think you have most of everything you need covered and can get going with it.

and got swaddle blankets. they are a blanket with a pouch type in the middle and velcro on the sides, you put the baby in and wrap him/her up and then velcro them up! loved them! 11|3|Robin ---|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|13:10:11|05/20/2010|

Before you leave the hospital, make sure you open any diapers underneath ;) No joke. One mom told me this... with our first, they took the one full one out. With our second, we opened it up and got to take it home. Probably has to do with contamination or something. Same goes for vaseline if you have a boy and opt for the circumcision.

Burp rags are ok. Really, we used our receiving blankets for a lot of that. Also, cloth diapers are good pukey catchers.

A lot of people don't recommend bumpers anymore. Once baby gets to creeping, they use them like a ladder to get out of the crib.

I wouldn't buy more newborn diapers unless they are expecting you to have a very small baby. Mine were 8 pounders so we stayed in newborn diapers for a very, very short time. Really, you will end up using 3s the most (at least on my experience). Also, you don't want to stock too much too in case of a diaper allergy. Keep your receipts! You never know... it happens.

I love, love, loved the Gerber breast milk bags. Of course if you are going to stay home, you probably won't use those much. I used very few w/my last one and ran through them like water when my oldest was in day care.

12|4|for burp rags we used new handtowels (bathrm size) in bright colors, that way they have a real use after that stage|carmenanderson|cloudcars@verizon.net|15:30:18|05/20/2010|

13|5|We did that for burp rags, too. We also took receiving blankets and cut those into fourths or halves. They worked great and did not unravel along the edges. Another thing is don't buy baby washcloths. I just used the cheap thin ones you can buy at Target in sets of 4 or 6. Worked just fine and you can use them after as dish rags or in the kitchen.|hudge4|hudge95@yahoo.com|16:00:59|05/20/2010|
