You will pay fees for listing, ending, payapl, envelopes, shipping, etc. Everything will not be profit. So my rule is I don't sell it if I can use it at the store. (Have sold a few that were to places I would never use.) If the gift card if for $25 and sells for about that you will not pocket $25. You will be lucky to make about $20.

You can only list one gift card at a time and one gift card per auction. You cannot auction off a lot of 4 gift cards.

Always send with delivery confirmation and keep the number, if they say they never received it and you can prove the delivery with the number, ebay/paypal will side with you. If the value is high I would make them sign for it as well. Costs a little more but could prove a point as well.

Good Luck!!! 3|1|Thank you ladies. I appreciate your feedback.|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|21:33:09|05/06/2010|

Gift cards are a high risk fraud category. If you don't have too many feedbacks Donna, paypal may hold your funds for a sale in this category. They can hold the money for 21 days or until the buyer leaves feedback or you can prove that the card arrived by way of delivery confirmation.

Ebay rules are that you are not supposed to email the winner the card / pin number (unless you use their classified ads which get practically no exposure). You are supposed to mail them the card. I would always use d.c., and if you have access to a printer, I would pull up the balance and print it out with the time stamped below (easier to have the proof on hand if needed than to go through the card company later on).

If you do an auction, you can monitor the bidders and cancel a bid if someone seems fishy (zero feedback bidder, brand new bidder, or someone whose feedback given indicates that they have a history of things "not arriving"). With an auction, you can check a person's buying history (if you check it and see someone bought 100 gift cards that day, you're gonna have a problem). You always have the chance though with an auction that someone will snipe it at the last second in which case you don't have time to cancel their bids. You can also do a buy-it-now with immediate payment required (there is a little box you check off for this). So if someone tries to buy it, they absolutely have to pay right then and there in order for the sale to go through. This discourages fraudsters who buy it, don't pay for it, and then try to get the card number from you with a promise of payment through the mail.

I've sold a few gift cards myself and never had problems, but I'd never sell one that was worth more than $25 probably - too much money for me to lose if I ever got cheated. Someone once said, "never list anything on ebay that you can't afford to give away". Wise advice that I always heed before I list something.

If you ever have any ebay questions, feel free to email me Donna!

" You'll get what's coming to you ... Unless it was mailed."

6|2|Joy, I am currently working with a ouple of traders from RS. I was curious, about ebay, but think after reading all of these comments, private trades, with people I know and trust, are a much better way to go. At least for me anyway. Donna|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|20:49:52|05/07/2010|
