I'm sorry I haven't been more active on the boards... my son has been having some great difficulties lately. His doctor wanted me to take family medical leave for a week because my son has gotten very violent in school and needed his medication changed. My son (7 years old) also was almost arrested for stealing a computer from school! I can't believe he stole it! But the school was more worried that speaking with the police man didn't scare him... but then, my son doesn't always cry and I'm not sure how much he really understands. He's very smart, but sometimes very distant. It's very hard to explain. He's such a lovable good child most of the time.
The school wants us to consider putting him in a special needs program with the school (but of course at a different school that can handle him!)
He has impulse problems, adhd, mood disorder and other problems as well and is special needs. Problem is alot of people don't understand special needs kids and automatically assume they are just bad kids. His doctor would rather we try and get him to function properly in a regular classroom because he can most of the time... and he said it does not benefit him to be in a special needs program because it does not teach him to function properly around other people. If he's going to be successful in life, he needs to be able to function around every day people.
It's been so frustrating lately, but I think we are making progress.
