I remember awhile back some problems w/her trades & she said her son helped her put her trades together & mailed them for her. That was when she lived in Las Vegas....
I have a problem w/that cuz it's one thing to blame a hubby for being forgetful to mail but it's another to blame your kid. 1st off, I'd never let my child mess w/my trades; 2nd, on the VERY extremely rare off chance that I did, I'd be sure to double (I'm anal so would probably triple check! LOL) check over it. My trades are MY responsibility, not my kid's, & I would blame noone but myself, kwim?
Do I blame my kid for tossing "prized/valuable" trash w/the upc's still on it? Oh, definitely. LOL It's just trash to him & he was taught to throw empty, icky containers/pks. in the trash can since he was 2 yrs. old. I don't have anything at all to do with this, but hearing that her son was 9-10 when this happened before and she had supposedly said it was his fault that time sort of throws me. I have a 10 yr old and there is just no way I would ask her to mail anything for me. My older daughter was super advanced (and smart) at 10 and there was no way I would have ever relied on her to help me mail anything either. I'll go out on a limb and suggest that this is probably the consensus of this board. Pretty unusual behavior.

I found out that Walgreens.com is having an offer where you can get a FREE 8 x 10 collage! I am going to have one made up for Mom. I have a pretty frame I can put it in, and I have some nice wrapping paper. She will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

Maria herself gave me both of the below addresses in 1 trade, in 11/2008.
1st she gave me:

I don't trade w/someone using a P.O. Box addy w/out a street addy so I pressed for a street addy before I agreed to trade w/her. She then also gave me:
XXX N. Main
Fallbrook, CA
In a trade I had w/her the very next month (12/2008), she again gave me the P.O. Box addy w/Salton City, CA but also gave me the name Bev McDowell to send it to, saying that was her "sister". Prior to 11/2008, Maria had lived in Las Vegas, NV, same city/state bad trader Joe McDowell lived in. It just so happens that the street addy above & the current Harbor Dr. street addy in Thermal, CA that Maria has been using comes back also to Joe McDowell.
My guess is after she got put on the BTL as Joe McDowell, she laid low for awhile & then rejoined RS under the name Maria Peralta w/a different username to boot. Then she worked on gaining everyone's trust & building up a bunch of positive feedback before she made off w/this latest big haul. It's not uncommon at all for bad traders to do that. It just really sucks for the innocent victims when the bad trader does finally go in for the kill. :(
And I've no doubt she'll try to pull off the same crap again, just a matter of time....
ETA: If someone hacked into her computer, rest assured they wouldn't just concern themselves w/some trades or $200-$300. They'd be going after a heck of alot more.

I agree, I believe there have been a couple of previous times her trading practices were questionable. I remember around a couple yrs. ago, there were problems w/some of her trades & she actually blamed it on her young son, saying he helped her put together her trades & mailed them for her. I thought that was rather pathetic to blame her son as he was only about 9-10 at the time. :(
